Hello All!

I have a quick question throwing me off and would appreciate the help: My father is going to be my joint sponsor for the I-864, and my mother will be filling out the I-864A to combine her income with his. My father has assets such as stocks and home listed, which she has part ownership of since they are married.

Should my mother be listing these same assets on her I-864A? Or should they only be listed on my father's I-864? Any insight would be appreciated. :help: Thank you!

Listing assets twice would make it seem like you had double... so no, don't list them twice.

That makes sense. But regarding their Federal Income Tax Return Info, since they file jointly, for their past three tax years they would have the same info listed on both their forms, right? Sorry if this is an obvious question - I just find this form confusing.

And just to make sure I'm doing this right, please double check me: I'm filing an I-864 for myself with no household member except my K-1 spouse. My father is filing an I-864 with 1d checked off: "I am the only joint sponsor," and since my mother is in his household and he is using her income to fulfill the requirement, she is filing a I-864A. Does all this seem correct?

Thank you a thousand times for anyone who can confirm. :)

Yes, they will both state their past income as the total from line 22 of the tax returns and then stated their individual income portions as directed. If their income is sufficient, it's best not to list any assets at all. To do so is optional and only advisable if the income is short or just barely enough.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
