Had our AOS interview today

Gary and i had our second AOS interview today at 3pm. The reason for the 2nd interview was they wanted more documents proving married or common life as they called it, seeing as we havent been married that long according to them  We sent in a packet which they requested plus were required to bring more today plus originals and photos. I was called in first and was asked a few basic questions and the officer was very nice. He looked at the documents we brought and then at the photo albums asking me who certain people were. Then he told me he would be right back. A few minutes later he brought in my hubby and asked for his passport and I-94 plus his drivers license. He asked him the same things he asked me plus a few other questions. Then he said we would be contacted by mail as to his decision. We feel the interview went really well and are optimistic about it, we didnt realize till we got home and were going thru our papers ect to put away that he took Gary's I-94. So should we see this as a good sign or has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thanks

Mary Lou (F)

Hi Mary

I'm in your same situation and waiting for the 2nd interview and as you can imagine I have a ton of questions. Did they give you any letter after the 1st interview? For how long have you been married? How long was the period between 1st and 2nd interview? Did the ask something else? Did you hire a lawyer? What additional documents did you get for the second interview?. Thanks.

Hi makidesuu,

We had our first AOS interview on Aug 23, 2006.

We then had a month to mail in the required paperwork they were requesting, which we had with at the first interview  and the officer wouldnt even look at it. Anyway 3 weeks after mailing them the packet we received a letter for the interview on Nov 8th.

Thank you for your support :)

Hi Oceanside,

We did receive a checklist so to speak of the required papers they wanted us to send within a months time frame after the first interview. We sent it in and then 3 weeks later received a new letter requesting us to appear Nov 8th at 3pm for an AOS interview. So it was about 2 1/2 months between interviews.

We were asked to bring

1. Your spouse and evidence of a common residence and shared life (including lease, bills and photos)

2. The letter they sent along with passports, hubby's I-94, and any immigration documents in our possesion.

3. Originals of all documents submitted as photocopies, for instance marriage, birth, and death certificates and divorce decrees.

We have been married for 8 months and 5 days lol

We did speak to a lawyer concerning this matter and he told us to just bring what they asked and be honest in answering the questions and we shouldnt have any problems.

We took in bills, bank statements, health insurance proof, beneficiary proof, loan papers, car titles, house deed, card and letters received in the mail, credit card statement......anything with both our names on it.

We also had 4 photo albums which the officer looked at them all and asked me who certain people were in the photos, our friends and the in-laws.

I hope this has been helpful for you and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us again.

Good Luck!!

Gary and Mary Lou

Hope you get your GC soon! Good luck!

Thanks Anna for your wishes (F)

I agree that them taking the I-94 is a good sign.

Best wishes for a speedy greencard!

Sounds like a good thing to me, that they took his I-94.

They took mine out of my passport when I was approved.

Hi Oceanside,

Can I ask when was your 1st interview? I also had our interview in L.A office and have been waiting for more than 3 months with no reason given since then. Did your interviewer approved you once at the 1st interview?

Congratulations! It is coming soon ...your Green Card/ White Card!

That was very informative sharing about the 2nd interview. Thank you for that! I just had my 1st interview last August 17, no notice for 2nd interview..only respond I get is to wait for national security check process and will be getting notice soon. Doesn't matter if that notice will be for a 2nd interview..as long as they are responding and giving me an update.
