Hello VJ'ers:

Anybody who experienced my problem? My US petitioner advised me to file for my passport under my married name even i turned a widow. But when i got my visa/manila case number, my "applicant's name" is changed to my maiden name. Would this affect my visa?

Can anybody please advise me because am having my interview soon.

Thank you and appreciates your comment.

I renewed my one year old passport from maiden to married name. Am under CR1 Visa. Per my lawyer, all names on the USCIS/NVC forms which we have submitted and my passport name should be the same. I am not sure if this is applicable to you. Just sharing, hope this info helps.

Thanks for ur reply. The sad thing is they based my visa name on my old passport copy which i sent. My fiance's mistake was applying me on my previous married name (am a widow now). Hence, i renewed my expired PP under my married name again. Anyway, i will just call USCIS regarding this matter.

Thanks and good day.

What is your legal name now? That is the name you use for all documents, including passport. All must match.

If the MNL # has your maiden name on it, then I have to say your US Petitioner put that name on the forms. USCIS nor NVC are going to change the name on the forms.

Hi there. You have posted in the Canada forum but I am not quite sure where to put your question because your profile says F-1 but your question seems to indicate otherwise. I am going to move your thread to the PI forum.

wait,,do u have your visa already or not..u said here that u got ur visa? manila case number is not a visa..

if u dont have ur visa yet,the name that will appear on your visa is the name that you are using now on your passport..it doesnt matter if some of your documents name that you used is your maiden name or married name..as long as your maiden name also appears on your passport (and your married name).. nothing to worry about that..we have the same situation.. my petition name was my maiden name and my passport was my previous married name.all documents that i submitted was my maiden name except my passport and i didnt had any problem about that. my visa turned out to be my previous married name coz they have to use your name that appears on your passport.. and im here now in U.S. hope this will help

good luck on your interview..

Hi, salamat sa reply mo. Pero nang tumawag ako sa Call center Embassy Agent, ang sabi nila dapat daw mag mail ako sa US EMBASSY for change of name, And am worried at baka matagal bago sila mag response.

Try check other case or call the embassy para mas malinawan ka, since fiance visa po pala kayo.

Nung nagfill up kayo ng form maiden name din po ba?

Hi, di ko nga ma-fill up ang form ko up to now.

Thanks again for your concern. :)

my petition name was my maiden name which is in my old passport too..my visa name turned out to be my previous name (ex husband surname)coz thats what written in my passport..at hindi ako nag ka problem sa visa at interview ko..same situation as yours..

ur petition name is ur maiden name and the name on ur passport is ur married name right?

ok worried ka sa names that u are using now in ur petiton? sa pagkakaintindi ko as long na ung both names eh nasa passport mo and u have all the documents and proof na ikaw nga ung nasa 2 names na un, everything will be fine.. tatanungin ka naman ng FO (filipino officer) tungkol sa names that u are using now at isusulat nila sa un forms or paper di ko na matandaan and they will ask for evidence. at pagdating sa Consul babasahin nila un at tatanungin ka lang tungkol sa current and previous names.as long na masagot mo sila ng tama wala ka prob..make sure that u have 2 NBI clearance. 1 eh ung maiden name mo and 2nd is ung married name mo.. di ko lang sure kung pwd mo un kunin sa nbi at the same time..kasi ako nauna ako kumuha ng NBI using my maiden name then a week before my interview kumuha din ako NBI using my married name. at hiningi ng consul ung dalawang NBI ko na un. i think ok lang kahit mag kaiba un name sa petition name mo at ung passport name mo.just bring all the documents that u have na ikaw nga ung nasa petition name and passport name..and dont forget to PRAY.. good luck.. keep us posted if everything went well on ur interview..
