Poor Tax Returns-i134 affidavit

Hello!

So here is what i'm wondering:

My fiance, the USC, was in school for 5.5 years, and spent a semester of it studying abroad. He just finished up his two degrees Jan. 2012. Due to being in school for 5 years, he hasnt worked much at all and therefore his tax returns are not that great.

However, he does now have his own business (self employed) and can prove that in the last year he makes more than the poverty line. We aren't sure if he'll get THIS year's tax return back before my interview. (With that being said, they seem to be Really slow at approving cases lately!)

My question is: will this affect my interview, like will they understand WHY he hasn't made that much in the last past few years?

Will they look at his recent bank statements, and invoices, and paycheques to see that he can in fact support me?

I guess what i'm wondering is How Important IS the last few years tax returns?!

Tax returns are important, especially the most recent year.

Additionally he should also write a letter of employment for himself. There is a template in the guides.

But, as long as he gets his tax's to who ever is doing them for him tell them to get it done ASAP, which I am sure will cost more, and he should have everything back in time to send you a copy. This is considering that your timeline says you still have not received your approval from USCIS. You should have enough time.

The tax returns are important HOWEVER his current income is more important. My husband is also self-employed. We submitted ONLY his last year's tax return with our AOS package. We did not include any additional information but his current income was similar to what his previous tax return showed. We will be bringing check stubs and some bank statements with us to the interview in case they want to see anything there but our AOS has already been accepted. If your husband can prove what he is currently making on paper using statements and such then he should include them.
