Hi folks,

I recently received the request to send in the AOS. The only problem is that I do not work so that means I would have to place as Income 0. I am a full time student which is why I don't work. And there are no family members that are able to help me out as co-sponsers or joint sponsers. Do you know any alternatives? Or it will not affect my case if I only place my name and do not search for a joint sponser. Can you please let me know? This is urgent.

Anyone can chime in to correct me but if you don't make the minimum requirement and have no one that will co-sponsor your AOS will be denied and your petition journey ends here.

The co-sponsor is the only way around not making enough yourself, unless you have assets that if you divided there value by three, I think that's the number they use, would equate to enough.

It will certainly affect your case because you will be denied. It didn't say a sponsor was optional so therefore it is vital.

If you do not have income and you do not have someone willing to be a joint sponsor, you have no alternative. The visa will be denied.

well, remember, you have one year per thing, to get it in to NVC.

There's 2 things, IV and AOS, so plan accordingly.

Even though you don't work, if you have assets that can be counted, USE THOSE.

You will need a cosponsor. Do you know anyone at school who can be a cosponsor? Maybe post a bulletin or send a mass email. Does your fiance/wife have assets or knows someone who can co-sponsor? Without it I'm afraid you will not be successful unless you have significant assets that would not cause undue hardship if must be liquidated. Even with assets you may clear NVC but still be turned away at the embassy/consulate without a cosponsor.
