We've discussed money a lot. We figure we have enough worries with this process to try to come here too quickly and end up very broke. I have steady work, but not very lucrative work. He's currently saving so that he can contribute to half of the rent without working for six months, and so he can buy a car before he moves here.

I will probably keep my account separate, and we'll open a new account together, which I will manage. (One of us is good with money, one isn't, so that will be my job.) And then we'll work on building his U.S. credit rating.

We might send money to his sister occasionally. Not that they expect it, but she's just getting started out and has had some job troubles lately, so when I was last there we went to the local farmer's co-op and bought her about three months' work of beef, pork, and chicken. I can see us sending her some money now and then if she runs into financial trouble, but no more than we'd help one of my own sisters.

It's not a romantic conversation, but it is a necessary one.

My husband works and I currently do not work, but normally always worked. We have seperate accounts since his bank is there is Alger. And well I have my own account here, also one in Europe...he opened me an account in Algerie that handles Dollars and Euros, so money transfers and such would be easy for me between my banks. Which was great when I wanted to do little extra spending for some high-end gifts for my family in Algerie (which I did not except my husband to buy of course)

Ummm...I donnot feel we need joint at this point and time, since he sent me off with enough money and gave me 2 seperate stash of money while I was in Algerie (one for the housewhole and one for my own use)

He does not gave per say any money to his family, other then on holidays and as-needed basis to his widowed aunt. I on other hand, sent money back home to my family 4x a year and on around holidays. I plan to continue to do this as I can.

I have never given my husband money, but he has given me so much. Elhamdullah. He is treating me very correctly but I think, if we were to ever get to place like Europe or the US where I would have to suport the family for any given time I would have no problem with this.
