So this is just a bit of a rant about the biometrics that we all have to do.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE USCIS CAN'T JUST PULL MY BIOMETRICS FROM THEIR OWN FILE?!?!

I already had my finger prints scanned with USCIS as well as a background check (during my Nexus application), I mean honestly - I don't care about the fee, charge it if you want, but do you really have to make me come in to get finger printed again?!?! And another background check?!? Seriously?!

ARGH :bonk:

I HEART USCIS (F)

moderator hat off . . . .

I had similar rants when I was going through the process. I mean, how many times do you need my fingerprints? They haven't changed since the last time USCIS took them! That was before I learned that fingerprints are only valid for 15 months so about the only time there is an overlap is a possible one between the Removal of Conditions and Citizenship petitions. You can plan on having biometrics for Removal of Conditions and Citizenship (if you apply) - and any time the processing is slow so that current fingerprints expire and new ones are required before the processing can be completed. (I had to get new biometrics for ASO and to renew my EAD and AP (twice) since AOS took 22 months to process.)

So, rant away - but be prepared for more biometrics. At least they are usually very straight forward and don't take all day.

It is to verify that it is the same person throughout the process and that you haven't slipped in another person.

There's a lot of fraud going around with docs and stuff like that using "look a likes" especially in the same family. While living in Mexico, I heard that a USC, but latino, would sell his "name" to get an illegal docs. They would go to the Post Office for an appointment and use the pictures for the illegal. A few weeks later, a passport arrives, they take it to Tijuana, the illegal immigrant gets it and crosses the border "legally" as an American.

That's the only reason why they would be so redundant throughout the process.
