So I just received my NOA1 today and visajourney has projected an early August NOA2 date for the Vermont Service Center. I'm sure I'm just being impatient...but this wait is going to kill me. How correct are these projection dates, and is there anything at all that one can do to speed it up? Probably a hopeless case, but I'm just wondering. If anyone has any stories about their Vermont Service Center experience, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you look at their backlog of work to complete the timeframe of August seems reasonable. There is likely nothing you can do but wait until the processing time frame goes outside their current averages and then you can ask a congresscritter to inquire/speed things along. That being said, reading through the various posts, if you're just "waiting in line" they likely won't speed anything up. If you have a specific hold-up, they can move that along.

We're a Jan filer looking at July of this year, we figured 6-12 months from the outset.

I think VJ has pretty good estimations...

This seems like an eternity, I know, but at least, if you know it is gonna take long, then you organize your life accordingly and things will go smoothly.

We thought the processing times from the USCIS was the time to get the visa when we started. We thought we would get the visa in 5 months. I made life choices accordingly to that belief... I really wish I had my hopes lower... Knowing it was gonna take at least 8 months would have been the best thing, and I think I would have handled it a bit better.

It is frustrating, but you will make it.good.gif

Good luck in your visa journey!

You are being impatient, the wait will not kill you.

The best thing you can do to "speed things up" is submit your petition correctly and avoid RFE's.

I think one thing that whole process definitly teach us is patient.

I remember how I thought I could not wait longer after 2 months. It has been close to 8 months and it will probably take 1 to 2 months more before I am actually with my fiancé again... And I am pretty cool about it now (most days whistling.gif).

But when we first sent the I-129F? gosh. I was day dreaming that a miracle would happen and that we would get the visa in 4 months max (which still seemed too long)headbonk.gif

Christina, unfortunately you can't cut infront of the line so just be patient. We all understand your frustration but it is what it is. In the mean time, you can visit if you miss him.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

We filed way back in July and still haven't heard anything. We need to give it to the end of this week (beginning of February) and our Attorney will contact the USCIS and see what's going on. You will get through it, all you need to do is be realistic and get through each month like you normally would. To me now is the worst part. I am excited because we are close to hearing something (I hope) but feel anxious in case we get a RFE or something is wrong. You also feel disheartened when you see people receive their NOA1 and then receive their NOA2 in the same month, when we have been waiting over 6 months! I have gotten to except the system, just very frustrating! This process will definitely teach you patience.

Good luck in your journey! :)

I feel confused everytime I see the incredible differences in waiting times. It would be one thing of the average woudl be say 8 months. But when someone gets approved in 2 months and others are waiting after 7 months... its gets con-fus-ing!

Reading some posts at VJ it looks like that Haiti applicants have shorter waiting time.

We are August fillers, 5 months tomorrow, and as everyone else said at this point all we need is a ton of patience
