What does it mean?

Dear Mrs. **********:

On behalf of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), thank you for your email, dated January 17, 2013, requesting that USCIS expedite your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. This email has been assigned case # EM113-****.

ya, it's the 'initial handshake' - nothing more than telling you 'we got yer stuff, wait for our real response'.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

They haven't asked us for evidence yet, which I don't find promising. :(

I don't think they've actually looked at it yet. It is like the email that comes saying that they've received supporting documents to go with the AOS or IV. Someone is actually acknowledging that it is there. But someone still has to review it. For example I had to send my AOS package for Son #2 again. I sent it on Friday last week by email. I got the automated response immediately. BUT then on Wednesday this week I get an email from an actual person saying that the package has been received and to allow 20 days to review etc. So it's a standard answer, like yours, but it at least means it's being handled.

I think that is a good communication for you and you just need to wait a couple more days to see what the next step will be.

Heya Nola doll I would maybe see this as promising. My expedite they just sent me a denied email. I didn't get a handshake or anything. So hopefully it means something good?

nola.

i forgot to mention that i had a dream about you two nights ago.

we were flying through target.

clearly time to get off this website.

/creepy internet lady leaving now

Flying through Target? That is creepy, because second to Ikea it is one of my favorite stores and I was just thinking yesterday how much I missed it.

I do think I need to take a break from seeing all the approvals especially after they screwed up our case, it just isn't fair and is so disheartening. It is especially disheartening when we filed the I-130 because I was finding it so difficult to live here (and we included that on the cover sheet) and it has just gotten worse and worse. We really needed that file abroad auto-expedite thing. Such is my life though, I am just really unlucky all the time.

Well I only got this because my original expedite request I sent by email. The ISO on the phone barely took two sentences from me, but the email was pretty compelling in my opinion. I still haven't gotten an email back about the CSR who told me to drive to the embassy to get more information.

I hope we get approved in the next 2 weeks or so otherwise I have a feeling it is going to be a long time, because our case is still at NBC and hasn't been transferred to a field office yet.

Well not so much flying.

I have never flown in my dreams.

But I do that thing a lot where you jump really high and sort of hover and float back down.

I asked my husband if he ever flies in his dreams and he says he only does the same floating thing!

How weird.

I was under the impression that they would ask for it if they needed it and only accepted it by fax or snail mail, but I could be mistaken.

You mean your request was made only by phone? If so, then you're probably right. What was the reason for requesting an expedite?

You mean your request was made only by phone? If so, then you're probably right. What was the reason for requesting an expedite?

I made the initial request by email but the email was not read until two days after the phone request. The phone request was very brief and it also included a note about the large error they made in putting the beneficiary's address as America when I had not requested them to do so.

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing concerning MSC******* (****** and *******) and would like to request an expedite due to medical and financial reasons. I am current residing in Denmark with my husband and 4 year old daughter. I moved to Denmark to be with my husband after the death of my father from Stage IV melanoma over the summer. I enrolled my daughter in school here and it was then that the nightmare began. My daughter was endlessly bullied and teased in school and the school would not intervene, but did confirm one of the Danish boys in her class was assaulting her on a daily basis. She began to constantly make negative remarks about herself, lost all bladder and bowel control, and finally came home with an injury resulting from an altercation from a child at her school that was still visible even a month after I pulled her out. She won't go near Danish children and she is a shaken shell of the child I knew in America. I am worried about her mental health and my own that has declined since being here. I had managed social anxiety for which I went to group therapy once or twice a month in America. It occasionally came along with mild depression but in general it was controlled. Since coming to Denmark, my social anxiety and depression have spiraled out of control. I'm unable to get out of bed some days, can't go outside often and am becoming very concerned about my mental health. To make it worse, my daughter is stuck at home with me day after day and it is beginning to impact her as well. Unfortunately, we can not afford to go back to America without my husband who is my primary caregiver and breadwinner and even if we could, I'm not sure I could care for my daughter alone in my present state. I am unable to access mental health services in Denmark due to the socialized health system and them not really abiding by EU laws and desperately need to go back to America with my husband and our daughter in order to see a mental health professional and start back up my group therapy. I normally do not disclose my personal issues to people, but it is an incredibly pressing situation.

FYI My address probably reads as an American one as a CSR that I talked to on the USCIS line told me that you didn't accept foreign addresses.

Sincerely,

Hope that sums it up.

The general process for opening an expedite request over the phone is- you call up, the rep takes your info, they only take a few lines of info from you and its forwarded to the center where a case number will be assigned. In a few days you'll get notification that a numbers assigned. A few days later, when someone looks at it, they contact you with a fax number or address on where to send your evidence.

If you sent your expedite request via email or snail mail or did it in person at infopass, then you should have submitted the evidence with it at the beginning. Although its not required that you submit evidence at the time youre requesting to open an expedite request, it saves you the time of having to wait for them to contact you later and request the evidence.

Since your letter says on the 23rd a case number was assigned to your expedite request that means that on Wed someone got your request. I agree that they probably havent looked at it yet. I would give them till Wed of next week to contact you and ask for your evidence. (the average response time back on expedite requests for evidence is 5-7 days) So by Wed next week you should be hearing something. If not, I would call up and ask for a service request to be put in on the status of the expedite. (they may give you a hard time but I would be insistent that you should be able to put one in) If they put in a service request, it will send a message to the person/dept handling your expedite. The phone rep will tell you it will take 5-7 days to hear back about the service request- thats bull. Call back in a day or two. They should have a response back by then. (If you hadnt gotten anything back from the expediting team directly by then) The phone center should have a response in their system showing a fax number where you can submit your evidence. So call up and get it. Call up every day and inquire if they answered the service request. Do not wait the 5-7-10 days for the service request to be answered by mail, because thats how theyre going to answer you- theyre going to mail you a letter with the number you can fax your evidence to.
