Hello again everyone. i live in the usa. My brasilian wife came here 4 months ago on a k1 visa and we have been married for 1 month. I was recently granted ssdi benefits. this is my only income right now. My father is willing to use his income to show support for her as we are temporarily livng w. him. I woould like to know what is the process for filing for a green card for her and what documents and cost are involved. She had a physical in brasil last january as part of her application for her k1 visa and all of that informtion was given to immigration in the sealed envelope when she arrived here. She also does not have her original birth certifcate or a copy. She gave the officer at her visa interview in Rio her original along with her other documents. She also has not filed for a social security number. Also is it possible to request a copy of her birth certficate from the brasilian consulate in Washington DC? because we will be going there soon to renew her passport. Thanks a million in advance .

Filing for AOS would be the next step for her.

You can get more information and the I-485 for here --> http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

While you're at it check out forms G-325A, I-765, I-131 and I-864. Some, or all of these may/will apply to her as well.

Good luck!

vap she can't request a copy of her birth certificate in the Brazilian Consulate. Most of the civil registry offices in Brazil allow to order the birth certificate online, but they won't send to USA, she needs to provide them with some address in Brazil, if the civil registry is not listed online she can call them and deposit the amount to get the certificate(less than $20) and they will send to her family in Brazil.

To adjust status you need to get an affidavit notarized of your parents stating you are living with your wife in their house and all utilities bills are in their name. She must include the vaccination supplement with form I-485.If she has any more doubts she can send me a private message ok.I speak Portuguese.
