Good idea to send spouse with the USC passport. I think the document requirements might be different in London -- they say they definitely need the birth certificates of all family members:

Birth Certificate: Obtain the original, or certified copy, of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse, and all unmarried children under the age of 21, even if they are not immigrating with you. If the children are deceased, so state giving year of death).

Zeffe- I feel sure that you need the original of your birth certificate, but perhaps a passport would suffice, as they both prove citizenship. Maybe worth a phone call or email to the Embassy?

Great suggestion. I will give them a call after I mail the DS-2001 this week. That way I can also check on the filing status of the DS-230 pt 1, etc and make the most of that expensive phone call

I think I remember reading passport OR birth cert as a requirement of the USC somewhere. Did you call and ask? If so, what was the answer?

If filing DCF, I'd assume they need copies of even the BLANK pages of your passport so they can look through all of your visas and entry/exit stamps.

The London consulate's website says they need the original birth certificate of the intending immigrant and any family member (even if they are not intending to immigrate with the applicant). There is nothing there about the USC's passport, but I am going to send hubby with both my birth certificate, its translation, my passport, and copies of everything. I had not considered photocopying the interior pages of the passport, though.

If we don't receive the interview letter in the next week, I am going to start calling the visa hotline and then I'll ask. Will update with their answer if I get one

They didnt ask for my wifes (USC) birth certificate when she accompanied me to my interview this week, or her passport -although remember that when filing the i-130 you had to include a copy of the USC passport, so they will have already done the necessary checking
