RFE question

Apparently the local registry version of a birth certificate is no good, need to send in another NSO birth certificate (Philippines). Already sent an NSO one to USCIS. Well anyway, I have some more NSO one's for the spouse since I had her send me some.

Question is:

Do I have to wait for the RFE email? They said I need to send in the cover letter. Can I just use the same cover letter used from the DS-230 package, or does it have to be the new one that they'll send?

"Available. Applicants may obtain birth certificates at any NSO branch for a small fee. Relatives in the Philippines may obtain these documents. The NSO can also provide an index of all children born to an applicant.

Birth certificates can also be ordered on the website www.ecensus.com.ph. The site accepts credit cards issued in the U.S., Japan, Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong. There is a flat fee for each document of $20. The fee includes shipping by courier to the delivery address abroad.

A certified copy of a birth registration (less preferred) may be obtained from the local civil registrar at the place of birth. Local Civil Registrar records are often incomplete and it is often necessary to augment local birth certificates with baptismal certificates. "Affidavits from two disinterested persons" are generally considered unreliable but may be useful in cases where pre-war records are not locatable."

I understand they prefer NSO birth certificates, but I did send in her local birth certificate AND her baptismal certificate. Why wouldn't they accept that? It's written in plain English on their website..

Just wait for the RFE mail. Send them what they ask for so you'll finally be done with them. good.gif

it takes 3 weeks to wait mail from NVC about the RFE, print out the checklist from NVC about the missing documents they need from you and use the same cover letter from DS-230. i did the same to save time and i don't see any problem. good luck

Good to know that NVC accepted the RFE without the actual RFE cover letter. good.gif

I have read some people say they used the same cover letter without problems. or you could print out the same cover letter and call NVC to ask who you shd attn it to: if its attn cmr or attn DR. then just cross out the CMr and write the correct one( its the same address etc except for that. that way you save urself days( if u r in a hurry)
