Hi all,

I've decided to go Electronic processing. I wonder what softwares are best to convert scanned file to pdf file. Before, I downloaded a free one, forgot its name, anyway it didn't do a very good job. So this time I'd like to buy a software which can do a decent job. Any suggestion? Thanks ahead of time!

Adobe Acrobat is the proper method since PDFs are Adobe type files. I personally wouldn't use anything other than that but I'm sure some others might have other suggestions.

ETA: My inexpensive Brother printer also has software that converts the scanned items to PDF.

If you don't want to pay for Adobe Acrobat, there's always the free trail, here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en I believe it's valid for 30 days. Should be plenty of time for you to scan things ;)

My scanner came with software that converts.

i also use "Cutepdf" to "print" things to PDF. I've never had a problem with it.

some software listed here:

NVC EP - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

IMO, the biggest hurdle yer gonna have is to get 'a page' into black/white pdf - those are usually 24K in size (per page).

All varies, depending on what you have already, what OS, what scanning gear you have, etc.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Did you guys write OPTIN in the subject line when emailing the DS 3032 form?

Also, once this is done, the petitioner just sends the I-864 form to NVC? Do I need to include a cover page with all the specific details of the case?

Thanks.

OPTIN is for those opting into the EP program. The DS-3032 has nothing to do with that.

And you have to pay the AOS bill before sending the AOS package. Same thing for the IV track. You should click on the last two links in my signature, specifically post 1 that links to guides. You need to read them.

So I have paid the AOS fees today. It is still pending. Should I wait for something or do I just go ahead and send out the I-864 form?

Regarding the Electronic processing program, I would prefer to opt in right? Since that way nothing has to be mailed??

There's more than just the I-864 form. You need the bar-coded cover sheet from the portal as well as tax information.

And Pakistan is NOT eligible for the EP program. You have no choice but to mail packages to NVC.

I would use adobe acrobat. Most printers have a scan to pdf file feature in them already.

Do not merge the files together into one large pdf file. I did this and they lost my files, even I had e-mail saying they received the files.

I resent them Wednesday morning as individual files in one e-mail, but has been 32 business days since DS-230 files originally sent in and all I have been told is sorry we lost them. And to wait for 20 more business days to hear on what I resent.

So much for electronic being faster!!

Good Luck

Sure, OPT IN is great, but useless if your foreign spouse is to be interviewed in a Country where the US Embassy / IV Unit does not participate in the Electronic Processing program.

Yer flag is set to Pakistan - I'm terribly sorry - Pakistan is NOT a country that the Department of State handles Electronic Processing for.

Will your foreign spouse be interviewed in Pakistan, or somewhere else? If somewhere else, where?

Yes, she will be interviewed in Pakistan. Oh wells.... I will just have to mail it then.

For the AOS, do I need anything other than the I-864, the bar cover sheet and the 3 year's tax transcripts?

Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Including proof of employment would be a good idea, such as an employment letter and/or recent pay stubs.

Great, I have all that ready. I will go ahead and mail it out today.

Correct me if I am wrong but the next steps include:

1) IV bill pay

2) Send IV packet

Thanks :)
