it IS the subject of this thread. an 11 year old boy is pretending to be a girl.

No, the subject of the thread is a boy who identifies more as female. She wouldn't be the first and won't be the last. It's not some elaborate game of pretend that they are playing. If it is, where's the fun part? The judging? The getting bullied at school?

It's like those silly folks who "choose" to be gay. For all the benefits, right?

Who said make? Who knows the details?

I just find it odd they feel need to have the kid start writing letters to Obama and going on TV shows.

I bet he thought that all up on his own as well.

Like I said, the politicizing could very well be the parents idea.

But the identifying as a girl thing? Probably not.

does HE have boy parts or girl parts? as for the 'choice' part of your post..it seems to be a bit off topic, maybe you meant that for a different thread?

No. It's not off topic. It was a comparison. You believe that this boy chooses to feel like a girl, rather just genuinely feels that way. The same way that some people believe gay people have chosen their sexuality. Because transgendered and homosexual people are just living it up with their benefits and rights, who WOULDN'T choose that, right?

The child has boy parts. Physically, the child is a male. Nobody's arguing that. But unfortunately, body parts aren't enough to make someone feel like they're the gender they're supposed to be.

And "discriminated" against? What 11 year old knows what that means? Teased, maybe bullied but discriminated against?

dis·crim·i·nate/v. dɪˈskrɪməˌneɪt; adj. dɪˈskrɪmənɪt/ Show Spelled [v. dih-skrim-uh-neyt; adj. dih-skrim-uh-nit] Show IPA verb, dis·crim·i·nat·ed, dis·crim·i·nat·ing, adjective

verb (used without object)

1. to make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, class, or category to which the person or thing belongs rather than according to actual merit; show partiality:

I'm sorry but that sounds more like an agenda to me than 11 year old talking about school.

A little bit about the mother Logan Sage Croft:

From Echo Magazine - Phoenix, AZ - January 20, 2012

By Glenn Gullickson

A major theme of films at this year's Desperado Film Festival is gender identity, a topic that's been a hot button issue for the event's host, the Maricopa County Community Colleges. Dale Heuser, senior director of the film festival and a member of the faculty at Paradise Valley Community College, noted that two films and several shorts to be screened deal with gender identity issues.

The documentary Genderf*kation: A Gender Emancipation is a story of six people dealing with a society that struggles to understand gender variations. It will be screened with the short film The Family Journey, about raising gender non-conforming children.

The screening is free and will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Thomas Beatie, a female to male transsexual known as the world's first pregnant man, and trans activists Erica Kepler and Logan Sage Croft.

Alan East, Desperado's chair, noted that gender identity has been a big issue in the community college system since last year's effort to get its governing board to approve nondiscrimination protections for trans students and staff.

Genderf*kation will also get a special screening for Maricopa Community College employees. "We wanted to make sure the district could use that kind of film to teach their family and social classes," East said.

Logan's professional interests are in psychology with a focus on LGBT issues, particularly as they relate to youth. She currently works as a TransYouth Advocate, striving toward equality for all. She hosts TransParent support group meetings, participates on discussion panels at the local university, and teaches workshops to foster parents and social workers in Arizona. In her efforts at bringing awareness and understanding to people at the macro level, she engages in various media presentations including National Geographic, Dr. Oz, the Arizona Daily Star, the Tyra Banks Show, and others here in the states as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. She is currently filming a documentary with Tommy Nugyen of NBC News and pursuing her degree in psychology.

She enjoys making the most of every opportunity to learn and grow as much as possible. It is her plan to begin post-graduate studies in 2014. Once Logan has acquired the knowledge, skills, and licensure necessary to be of greatest benefit to the community, she aspires to work with LGBTQ youth at the crisis intervention level. She strives to facilitate safe and healthy transitions for youth; it is challenging to "come out" when a child is emotionally and financially dependent upon their parents. Logan is the mother of one fabulous ten-year-old affirmed female, and the beautiful nine-year-old daughter of her heart adopted from China.

When her older daughter transitioned from male to female in kindergarten, the school, pediatrician, psychologist, endocrinologist, neighbors, and everyone else was just so confused and resistant to what they didn't understand. Upon receiving death threats while living on base overseas, the military responded by moving them back to the states. Things didn't improve as much as she'd hoped once they were stateside. The school does not welcome her daughter on campus, so Logan continues schooling her children at home.

An 11 year old who is clearly "different" could very well know what that means. Maybe those awful parents of this child taught them a big word.

And all that so their boy can play "pretend", right? Yikes.

No wonder the Russians want to stop Americans from adopting their kids.

no. i believe the boy's guardian has influenced the boy's behavior. if he has boy parts he's a boy, whether he feels like one or not.

Yeah, what a poor example this child is. Dressing as a girl, caring about the environment, texting her friends. It's just a road to ruin for her. The horror of it all.

Maybe Russians don't want Americans to adopt their kids because American kids are shooting up schools.

For what purpose?

do you think it has to be so cut and dry? there are so many variables that go into gender and most of these variables are out of our control.

you know like pat, from snl? these people can and do start struggling with which gender to identify with when they are very young. they know early on they are different. most times they know they are different before other kids start calling them out on it..

this boy is completely uninfluenced by his guardian.

idk. maybe she's a trans activists?

So because she's an activist, the child is being influenced?

If I'm a gay rights activist, will my future child end up gay? Uh oh!

And generally, if they are forced to live a life they feel is a lie, it is far more detrimental to them than if they are accepted, the way the child in this story seems to be.

Never said the parents were awful but, I find it unlikely that Sadie identifies herself as a transgender in a "protected" class and therefore subject to discrimination. Does she get teased and bullied, probably but, I just tend to think of discrimination differently as in denying someone a benefit, a place at the counter in a diner, the right to use a toilet, the right to be hired, etc. because of who they are and the group they belong to. And maybe they did teach her that word, but, she is now being put out there to advance the cause of the transgender. Seems like an odd role for an 11 year old, but maybe it's her chosen path and she has done all this on her own. Good on ya Sadie!

And I bet a lot of boys play pretend around age 5, doesn't sound like he is now but who knows, was probably very entertaining to his moms at some point.
