Yet to hear from NVC, is this normal?

Hey everyone

I received my I-797 NOA December 17, 2012 stating formally that our I-130 was approved and had been sent off to the NVC. I have been waiting to hear/receive anything from the NVC since then but haven't. On the NOA it says to wait a month before contacting them but I waited a little longer given the Christmas/New Year holiday must have stopped some correspondence from happening.

I mailed NVCinquiry today asking them when we would hear from them and if they needed any additional documents. In the meantime I have tried to get everything ready for them (AOS, etc.) I'm just wondering is this a normal waiting period? Is there anything else I can do in the meantime other than be anxious ?

I received my I-797 NOA in January, but I was told its best you call them ,so i did & a lady told me that i should call back in 15days because they don't have my case number /file yet

You should be calling NVC and asking if they have your case number.

WOO HOO!

spoke to a very nice woman who said that my documents were sent Jan. 9 but because they were sent over seas they are taking a long time. She took my email and said she would send all the info and I should have it in my inbox by tomorrow (my time here in Norway) which will include a case number and the rest of the info.

no la - the I-130 casefile is sent to NVC.

When NVC has it officially logged into the system, you are 'allowed' to start the doc intake process and fee payments.

Please find LingChe in the wiki, and study it.

You really should be calling into NVC to jumpstart this process. Use a Telephone.

When I call I usually do so at 7:30am Eastern Time and they answer immediately or almost immediately

I was approved at the same time as you and if you look at my timeline below you can see we're moving along the process. This is because I called and got things rolling as per the guides here.

Also, on a side note, my children JUST received their hard copy notices to go ahead and apply. Mine hasn't even arrived yet. So if you want for mail, it will be a LOT longer.

I was approved the same day as you and got my NVC case # 01/08 ( and waiting for case complete now). NVC probably means they sent you the snow mail AOS docs 01/09 ...trust me those may not get to you until you even interview. so from now on use the telephone like Darnell said( yep u cld be on hold with them for over 30mins, be patient) and give them ur email(beneficiary and petitioner) when next u call if u havent done so already.
