Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone (french speaker) could help here: I'm translating my birth certificate myself, and wanted to check the right translation (don't want to have a RFE for that).

What should be equivalent to "Extrait des registres de l'etat civil. Copie integrale"?

Should I just put Certified copy of birth certificate, or should it be more literal, like Extract for the registry of civil records...

January 18, NOA1

April 12, NOA2

May 3, NVC sent file to Embassy in Paris

...

May 12, 19, June 2, visits to Embassy to check status: nothing new

June 30: visit to Embassy, learn that file went back to the US

June 30: NVC representative said that file was sent back on June 23.

...

Went to Embassy Friday, July 7: file is back. They are ok to expedite before wedding date.

But one missing piece: need a police report from China...

Mid-July: Friends helping in China, and Police report on its way.

Called the U.S. Embassy and said I was basically ready. They agreed over the phone to scheduled the interview for Aug. 10.

Arrived in California on the 17th.

Sept. 2: Married!

Nov. 10: Finally filed

Nov. 17: NOA

Nov. 25: Biometric appointmenr received

Dec. 2: Biometrics

Im not a native french speaker but im a translator, i would translate it llike this : True Copy of an original Birth certificate thats is recorded in the Registry of Civil Records. Of course any suggestion of a native french speaker would be awesome. I hope that helps you

Thanks, but I still have the feeling this is kind of too complicated and literal translation. I was actually wondering if there was I kind of formalized formulae...

I just got an RFE concerning my international birth certificate. It was in German, french and englisch. They did not except it. I had to go to an translator and get it only in englisch and including a letter from the translator. Are you sure, that you want to translate it yourself?

I think it would be more prudent to get your birth certificate translated by a professional in the US... That's what I did!

AOS JOURNEY:

September 13TH 2006 NOA1 for EAD and Adj of Status

September 23rd Biometrics notification by snail mail

September 27th RFE : Cosponsor needs to send more proof of his business activity

September 29 th RFE sent to Lee's summit

October 6th : Biometrics.

October 9TH:"RFE delivery refused!!, not enough postage available!"

October 16th : RFE finally delivered after second try!

October 18TH: email notification RFE received! Finally updating things online?

October 30TH: Transfer to CSC!!! Wohoo!

November 2th: CSC received case;online notification!

November 8TH 2006: AOS APPROVED!!!! Vive California!!! 5 days to get approved!Online notification

November 14 2006: GC or should I say White card arrived in the mail!!! I checked my mail only on the 15th

What happened to Milka is weird because all other Germans handed it the international birth certificate as well and never got a RFE.

I just wondered if France doesn't have an international bc also? I thought every country within the EU offers this (ca. 7 Euros). It comes in plenty languages.

I am also pretty sure that you cannot translate the bc on your own, it needs to carry a notarization of a certified translator or something. My interview letter states that and I am pretty sure it is also necessary for applications.
