I-130 Fee payment, check

Hey guys, I have a US bank account with Chase, and I planning on paying through that. However, I don't carry any personal checks where I live in Barcelona. Chase has an online E-check payment option, where they would send the check to USCIS...however, it would arrive separate form our I-130. I could also do western union, but that would arrive separate as well right?

So what are my options, can I mark a note on the check? I would rather submit directly than sending it to a contact in the US, and having them reopen the package to add a check.

That won't work out for them. Failure to put the check with your package, it will be returned.

They dont accept WU.

I figured that, what would they accept? I would assume these days many people lack physical checks...what kind of money order can I use?

You can send it but not a personal check. You can get a casher check from your bank and you can send it thru postal mail. but be sure you got the right address or you can pay online. Thats the only option.

Yes, it can be a personal check. I sent my package to my parents and they wrote out a check and included it. It was cashed 5 days after, no problems. You can't pay it from a bank overseas, has to be drawn on a bank in the US.

You would have to either order checks and have them sent to you overseas in Spain and then enclose it, or have someone in the states enclose a check or money order for you. I know money orders are accepted and the only way I know how to do one is to go somewhere and give them the cash and have a money order printed out. Again, this is in the states, not an international money order. Unless western union has some way of doing a money order? Ok I'm rambling now, but I think the easiest option would be to have someone in the states enclose a check in the package, that's how most of us overseas do it! Good Luck!

It's pretty easy to open an account in Barcelona why dont you try to do that maybe?

Won't work.

I have a bank account here...but doesn't the check have to be drawn on an american bank account?

Yes. Have somebody send you a check, then write it and include it with your filing. Or, send your package to somebody in the USA and have them add a check to it before sending on to USCIS.

You can send it but not a personal check. You can get a casher check from your bank and you can send it thru postal mail. but be sure you got the right address or you can pay online. Thats the only option.

No, you can't pay online or buy an acceptable cashier's check at a foreign bank. Does anybody actually read instructions and make sure they KNOW the answer before replying anymore?

Thanks guys, I'll try to send it to a relative in the US!

I live in Ireland and I sent a bank draft from my bank which was drawn from Chase bank in new york. You can ask your bank if they have an affiliation with an american bank. It actually says it on the bottom of the bank draft but u are better off going in and speaking to someone in the bank as when I called they had no clue what I was talking about! Hope this helps

You can get a money order from a bank in your country as long as they draw it on a US account. For instance, I have a Canadian Bank account, which I got a US money order on. Since TD Canada Trust draws on a Wells Fargo account to issue US money orders, I could use that to send with my applications. In fact I did, and USCIS accepted that.

you can order a check, made out to anyone, and have it sent to you, instead.

don't like your address overseas?

have it sent to a family member, instead, in the usa, then you send off the I-130 pack to that family member, who, in turn, puts in the check in the packet and sends it off to uscis.

Good Luck !

Good idea u should try taking your own advice. At least two people including myself have given informed answers, in that I personally have gone to a NON AMERICAN bank and got my bank draft issued in US Dollars drawn on an AMERICAN bank! So as you can see there are people who do KNOW the answer before replying. Hope u get sorted OP

You're quoting a partial quote directed at the series or responders that gave incorrect answers. Unless you describe exactly how you managed to obtain an acceptable draft, exact enough the description will reliably assist another in doing the same, you may be hurting more than helping. There ARE instructions. Its' best to follow them.
