Interview Experience

Hi All just wanted to share my interview experience with u guys...

My interview was today Jan 24th,2013 at 8.15am...i arrived at the embassy around 8.05am...the local girl at the counter took my finger prints...she couldn’t locate my police report (police report was sent directly to the consulate by police head quaters) after a little struggle she kept asking me if i used any other names...I said NO....then she asked me if i got the receipt from the police dept (we have to pay $65 so they give receipt for that) fortunetly i did have it in my file so i gave it to her......after about 15 mins she found my police report...then she asked me to give her the latest tax returns docs together with the W2’s.....she got confused and asked me where is the 2012 tax returns?? I said ‘’Madam its only January now, 2012 tax returns will be filed by April’’....so she said ‘’ohhh ok’’ (Again she looked lost)

Anyways then she told me to wait for the interview and they will call me......after 15 mins my name was called...the CO greeted me with a big hellow...he actually was the same CO who interviewed me for my B1/B2 visa last year so he remembered me....he asked me last year i told him we were not ready to migrate so what changed ? (my hubby USC and i have been married for 2 yrs and we live in my country) so i told him that our little business is not doing well so we decided to move to US... then he kept reading all the paperwork in my file and asked me where my parents live..i told him my dad passed away, my mom is here...asked me if i had kids here and i said no....asked me if we r gonna stay with our joint sponsor i said yes....then he asked me when are u guys planning to go...I said by Feb 28 as i have things to sort out with my mom...he nodded when he heard that...then he said my hubby looked very familiar to him.. and at last he asked me if i will be in Suva (where embassy is located) today and I said YES.....then he gave me a receipt and told me to come back at 3pm today and pick up my passport as it will be ready with the visa....i said ‘’thank you’’...he said ‘’have a good day’’ i said ‘’same to you’’...and off i went...... I was quite surprised that my visa was ready the same day as normally they take 2-3 working days.......went in at 3pm waited for 30 mins then the same local girl served me, they me the sealed envelope explained about not opening it bla bla, gave my passport with the visa and said ‘’have a safe journey’’

Overall it was a very good interview....and i reckon the CO asked me questions just with the flow from our conversation...he made me feel very at ease and comfortable – no grilling at all... everything just went smoothly....never asked me for any photos or domicile doc’s...but i was prepared incase he asked.... So thank you Visajourney we spent so many hours on this site reading and understanding the procedures and our hard work has paid off....
