there's nothing wrong with talking to yourself..everything's fine!

I just got further my research, needed to correct a possible error, and make a clarification. I did know Americans manufactured many of their own weapons, especially rifles. They did not make many muskets, as the British and the French were able to manufacture those so cheaply in what became cottage industries. I did miss identify the firearm in Charles!'s post as a KY rifle, when in fact it was a Brown Bess musket.

Guns have actually killed more people than anything in the history of this country - including all of this nation's wars COMBINED. And guns have done that in just 4 short decades. And you mean to tell me we need more guns? Really?

those evil guns......i had a talk with mine today and made them promise not to kill anyone while i was at work!

It's comments like these that make rational discussion impossible. I understand why the picture thread appeals to you - you get to post pictures, regardless of fact or accuracy, and it's against the "rules" to comment on them. But then when someone does, with a logical argument, this is the response.

Congrats on being part of the problem.

It is true that firearms are a force multiplier. But the force comes from somewhere outside the firearm.
