I don't think Americans knew the bunch they elected when Bush got in -- now they have spoken. (and with a 33% approval rating you are going to have a hard time convicing anyone otherwise)

Most of them were the same bunch from 2000. How much time do we need?

Good point--dems won because of dissatisfaction (and being the ONLY other party)--something which Reinhard still doesn't grasp entirely.

(in Canadian elections I voted "third alternative" of Reform/Alliance when it was present--in 1988, 1993 and 2000; while Reform/Alliance is folded into currently ruling Tories, the leader is from the former--and he at least is looking at some issues that have been long asked such as senate reform).

Also Charles, are you thinking of immigrating to Canada now? I saw your usage of "eh" (but I'm not gonna reveal to you whether it was right or wrong )

Change? I keep hearing that word from the dems. Change,Change,Change! Any details? alot of the dems. elected are considered conservative compared to the far left leadership. I actually know what "change" will be coming--we Canucks got that in 1993 when the majority (I voted Reform) voted Chretien/grits and outed the baloney-tories (and their leader Campbell). No repeal of GST, increased senate appointments--in otherwords "b-a-u". I'd like to see Reinhard's face when he figures this out. However, Canucks may have ACTUAL change under Harper (remains to be seen) after 2006--in contrast to no such hope for yanks.

Yeah, you're right on dems going to trip over themselves--dems post-1980 have been like post-Douglas NDP (no direction or focus).

So...for example...someone has a business based on the internet. They move from NY to Alabama to get away from the INSANE costs in the Socialist Republic of New York. And then STILL makes the same $100,000.00 should get taxed MORE for because s/he POCKETS more money per year?

Agreed. The entire tax code is based on the premise that those that make more contribute more. Obviously, making 100K in Buttfuck, AL is a heck of a lot more than making 100K in NYC or LA. There should be a some cost-of-living adjustment factor when calculating taxable income. That would hardly be rocket science to figure out and/or administer.

Oh my Lord. I can just imagine an entire State Beuracracy formed for the sole basis of manipulating their cost of living so they can keep people from leaving! Imagine this billboard placed in Utah or Arizona:

Lower your taxes! Move to California!

Considering California pays more federal income tax than any other state, and yet does not see the same % of benefits returned to it, I'd say you'd hope people do choose to live in high cost-of-living states so that you do continue to pay less tax.

Actually, a lot of Democrats are far more conservative than Bush and his Bushies.
