The nightmare is just beginning! :help:
why? are you rummy?

:energetic:

i'll tell you why, using nancy pelosi's own words in her first statement after dems were declared the majority....."we are ready to govern".....notice she didn't say "we are ready serve". her use of the word govern provides insight into the liberal mindset.....we are ready to govern, i.e. we are ready to tell you how to live your life. hopefully her tenure as majority leader is short-lived.
I think the Bushies have done quite a superb job trying to tell people how to live their lives. We can use a good long break from that nonsense.

Ready to govern means ready to lead. Means ready to re-establish Congressional oversight over the Executive. All the things that were so sorely missing with the Bushies in charge on Capitol Hill. ;)

 couldnt have said it better myself!!!!
Try again--Reinhard is due for quick disillusionment.

Disillusionment? From what you said above? You gotta try a bit harder, my friend. Fact is that there was effectively no Congressional oversight over the Executive over the past 6 years. Now, we'll have that function working again.

This woman knows absolutley nothing about military strategies evidenced by the fact that she refuses to acknowledge that we are at war!

Yeah, there's just nothing quite like like the Yahoo at 1600 Penn Ave and his cronies with their firm grasp on military strategies - the lean, mean fighting machine (ala George Foreman) or somesuch. All they can muster are Bush's strategeries which is what destabilized an entire region and put Iraq into a civil war rather than leaving it better off. Great strategery indeed. Really great.

As I recall the democrats were in support of the war and voted to go to war based on the best intellegence we had at the time.

Unfortunately, there are democrats like Kerry that waffle back and forth; you know he was for the war before he was against it! Whatever and whichever the wind blows.....

I feel like I've just woken up from a long nightmare ... but I'm afraid to go back to sleep because I've a feeling I'll have another one if I do.

To be less opaque, I despise Bush&Co., but I'm not convinced the Dems will really be an improvement.

The only thing that gives me hope is the increase from 1 to 2 Independents in the Senate, because I hope it's the start of a movement towards either reforming the existing parties or forming a third one.

who are/where are the independents? I don't see any for the senate lost or gained.

You forgot that for effective oversight, you need some direction. With dems being directionless, their having a majority can lead to gridlock but not effective oversight. So, be prepared for at least 2 more years of s-q.

Congressional oversight ? just means the dems are pissed off for the last six years and now their gonna get some pay back, they had better watch it! If the public percieves them doing that they will be ousted next election.

Personally, I don't think most americans know the bunch they just elevated to power. I don't think Rangel, Pelosi, Dean, Murtha and Kerry need to be anything but themselves.

That'll be enough next time around for most americans to oust them.....

I'm not sure the Democrats will be better, but this election gave me hope that my countrymen were at least paying attention and realized that things weren't going well.

Unfortunately, yanks have rather short patience as a whole--so, it only means that they are dissatisfied at the moment. If they are still dissatisfied in 2 years, all bets off.

I don't think Americans knew the bunch they elected when Bush got in -- now they have spoken. (and with a 33% approval rating you are going to have a hard time convicing anyone otherwise)

Most of them were the same bunch from 2000. How much time do we need?
