Not everyone who filed after Aug 15 is approved. Please don't think that. I wish we'd filed our papers in May when we we're married instead of waiting for my husband to get a job first. We would have been approved already. Instead we filed in Oct and its such a random process now I have no idea when an approval will come. At least most of the earlier filers have an idea of where their case is (csc or vsc) and an approximate order of approval. :/

10/25/10 .. Met in Auckland, NZ

09/05/12 .. Got Married in Santa Barbara, CA

USCIS:

09/26/12 .. I-130 Sent

10/07/12 .. I-130 Returned. Checkmarks did not print. Doh!

10/15/12 .. I-130 Sent AGAIN

10/19/12 .. NOA1 date

11/20/12 .. File was transferred to my "local field office" (Seattle)

12/14/12 .. Touch! Officially online!

01/22/13 .. NOA2 date (95 days)

NVC:

01/28/13 .. NVC receives case

02/11/13 .. Case number assigned

02/12/13 .. AOS bill paid

02/14/13 .. AOS bill shown PAID

02/14/13 .. AOS packet sent

02/26/13 .. AOS Checklist received

02/26/13 .. IV bill paid

Great, another 3-5 months your spouse will be here in the USA.

Hoping less! New Zealand is REALLY fast with setting interview appointments. As long as we fly through the NVC (no reason we shouldn't, I've been prepping for three months!), I am hoping to have him at the very MOST by April. ::goes around knocking on all wood available::

And after the past 4 months apart, every day is getting lonnggerrr and lonnngger..

You should go to the immigration timelines for New Zealand. It does vary a bit but remember that some get through very fast because the spouse is in the US military. US military can and should get expedited.

If you or your spouse are in the US military, then you can get expedited and it will go faster.

Good luck. For us, it was also hard waiting and waiting and often not knowing why it is taking so long.

I recommend that you also go the Visa Journey forums for New Zealand. You can learn a lot about the process for the US embassy in New Zealand.

I had everything ready and the biggest holdup was with the NVC. It still took 3 months to get through the NVC.

I definitely have, and talked to a lot of people who have gone through the Auckland consulate. They are just very fast at things in NZ (when I got my student visa there, it was a piece of cake), so I expect no problems with getting an interview date very quickly after the case completes. Yeah the NVC will still be a mystery, but I have confidence that I finally am in a little bit of control of the process, you know? Instead of the USCIS waiting game they like to make everyone play.
