hi all, this is a bit wierd. My Fiance interview was 18th Jan 2013 and after the interview our K1 visa was approved, he was given a paper to pickup his visa after 10business days. Yes, we have been very excited. But today he received a call from the embassy that he should come and pickup his passport that they are still working on the case and when the visa is ready they will let him know. But for now they do not want to hold on to his passport for so long. Please what could this mean and has anyone been through this before? Im confused and dont know what to do.

yes something probably popped up about the case after he left. do either of you have a past with the embassy/immigration? even if they are reviewing the case, they shd hold unto the passport instead of asking him to come pick it up. did you guys confirn the email address and be sure it is not a prank email(frm someone he shared the news with?). the email address must state ".gov". take it to God in prayers after looking into all these.

he received a call from the embassy(nigerian lady spoke). he tried to call back that number but he was asked for an extention number

even weirder. so email the embassy NOW. you still have few minutes left. quote his case number in the subject line and direct it to the NIV section asking that you got call from someone "claiming to be calling from the embassy"( dont quote the specifics of the call) and say you are writing to ask if there is an expedite on his VISA pick up date.they shd get back to you latest friday before you decide what to do.

Keep in mind he may have been put in AP, it is Nigeria and would not be uncommon.

They gave my husbands passport back to him until they were ready to actually print it since there is no guarantee how long that process will take. IDK, just another thought...

My fiance has got a response from the embassy after he sent an email and the email says the application is on adminstrative processing and this case is not yet complete. as soon as it is complete we will contact you. Please what will this mean?

Administrative processing is their final background checks (for security) and such (anything they need to check or follow up on, etc.). This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months or more. There is no way to speed this process up, it is just a waiting game at this point. Hopefully it will not take very long and it will all be said and done before you know it! :star:
