Order copies of the tax transcript from the IRS and make a copy for the I-864 you will be filing later. Tax transcripts are what the IRS accepted and processed as an actual tax return and cannot be faked. You risk not including a schedule or form if you submit a tax return as it must be a COMPLETE tax return in the eyes of the USCIS and a transcript is a complete return.

I submitted tax returns (1040s) with W2s (plus photocopies of W2s as they will want copies) and had no issues. Tax transcripts are also acceptable. It's up to you. Tax transcripts might be easier if the USC is self-employed.

I also have a question related to this....

My fiance has ordered his 2010 and 2011 transcripts from the irs and we're hoping that 2012 will be done before my interview.... What I'm curious about, if by chance his 2012 isn't completed by the time I go for my interview, can we just use a copy of this years w2?

Montreal asks for the previous years tax transcripts. I would use other sources only if you need to prove you make more now and you were below the poverty level before. Since taxes aren't due until April 15th, use 2011 transcript unless you get 2012s done and back before then.
