Hi all,

Yesterday's AOS interview went well and I was approved for permanent residency.

It's still not all over of course!

We are traveling outside the country for 10 days on Nov 22nd and I am worried about my situation since I am now a permanent resident without the documentation. The interviewer said it takes ~30 days to get the GC on mail and did not stamp on my passport (new rule??). The VISA stamp on my passport says H1-B valid till Jan 2007. Is this sufficient for me to gain re-entry to the US after my trip (Dec 04, 2006).

Please Advice

06/01/1994: Entered US as student

01/05/2000: H1-B VISA to work

07/27/2004: Married US Citizen

02/02/2006: Applied for Marriage based GC

05/11/2006: EAD approved (I-765)

11/07/2006: AOS Interview .... case approved

11/08/2006: 4 e-mails from Case Status Service Online stating welcome notice mailed

Cheers

Congrats on the approval!!!

The GC usually doesn't take 30 days to arrive. My daughter received her GC 12 days after her interview.

I think you either have to have your GC or AP to return to the U.S. after travel abroad.

Once your AOS is approved your HB1 is void.... if you need to travel before your greencard gets to you, you will need to go to your local office and request the I-551 stamp in your passport.... take evidence of your travel plans

I would make an infopass appointment asap to get the stamp...

Agreed. Don't use your H1-B to travel, it could get you in trouble.

Thanks so much for your advice. I made an appointment at infopass.uscis.gov and got 1-155 sealed on my passport that is good for 6 months.
