Well regulated has nothing to do with regulations.

Quite the opposite, actually. It means being able to use your arms very well.

I bet the children wouldn't even have noticed if the teachers wouldn't have said anything.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing the first people the school called was men with more guns. Am I right?

Why is it that one man walking around with a gun is scary but several men responding with guns is not?

Are we still insinuating it's about the guns?

Regulation means regulation! :bonk:

Did the kids at Sandy Hook notice?

Yes, it is about the guns and in whose hands they are carried!

They're called law enforcement officers. They are sworn servants of the public clearly identifiable. The gun nut running around out there in the vicinity of the school was not in any way distinguishable from one Adam Lanza. Now you might not know the difference between the former and the latter but 26 families in Connecticut and every sane person that pays attention does.

:wow: Tell that to the parents of the Sandy Hook victims!

Until Adam Lanza opened fire he was also just some guy walking with a gun!

So tell 20 people that we, as a nation, are going to ignore our constitution just because someone victimized their children in a crime?

Adam Lanza wasn't just some guy walking with a gun. He was a guy who broke into a school. In the scenario laid out by Big Dog, a dude was walking. Huge difference there.

I don't know. It's just hard when you hear your six year old daughter talk about that terrifying experience she went through today. She asks questions - why does that happen, dad? Why did we have to turn off the lights and hide in the corner pressed against the wall, dad? What happened that we couldn't have a regular school day today, dad? It's just incomprehensible to me that people think that this is normal. It isn't. It's sick. If the worship of objects of death and destruction drowns out the needs of our children to grow up in an environment free of fear, then we live in a failed nation. This is not sustainable.

I agree. It's horrible that we're turning into a nation of cowards taught to hide in a corner instead of being trained - even from an early age - to deal with adversity.

Regulation means practicing with regularity. It means being responsible for yourself. Moreover, it means being good at something. Once upon a time, Americans were allowed to be good at stuff. And foremost amongst the skills they strived to be good at was marksmanship.

Pity we deny that today.

The 20 kids that were slaughtered by some gun nut in Connecticut noticed, didn't they? For a few terrorizing moments at least until they were snuffed out by that gun nut. ** the gun nuts. All of them. Seriously.

That dude wasn't a gun nut. A gun nut could've stopped that dude. But, instead, we choose to bar our school staff from their God-given right to self defense and in doing so we condemn those they're assigned to babysit while they wait to be executed.

If you didn't learn anything from today, you're missing out on a valuable lesson. It's time we all talked to our young folks about standing up for themselves and not cowering in a corner waiting to be victimized.

How did Adam Lanza break into the school? He was waking in the vicinity of the school with guns before shooting his way into the school, no? How would you know what the intentions of someone with a gun in the immediate vicinity of an elementary school is? You wouldn't. So you can either do nothing and hope for the best - that's what they did at Sandy Hook and we all know how that worked out. Or you can assume the worst and take precautions. That may be a terrifying experience but at least the kids will go home after school. As a parent, I opt for the latter. The life of my daughter is that important. In fact, there ain't a thing in the world that is more important to me.

Yes, the brave souls of Sandy Hook. They died while dealing with adversity. You know, you do that with your kids. I'd rather not do that with mine. And I'd rather not have some gun nut that doesn't even have kids tell me what's best for kids.

There's no problem until you get a call from your child's elementary school advising you of the lock-down the school is under because some gun nut thinks it's warranted to be toting his motherfcuking piece in close vicinity of the school. That's where the fun ends when it's your child in a lock down drill just because some motherfcuking gun nut lacks any sense of decency and respect. ** them all I say.

By "taking precautions" are you referring to turning off the lights and hiding in the corner?

Great plan!

Yes he was. Same as his mother.

Is that why he had to steal her guns instead of using his own?

Well, there's a majority in this country feeling as I do. So maybe we just ought to put you and yours into your place.

You guys are unarmed. How do you suppose you're going to do that? By hiding in the corner till I give up?

It's part of the lock-down procedure. Naturally, you'd get the kids out of sight from doors and windows. It's all the stuff that makes sense. Unless you're a gun nut, that is.

Steal? I read that she took him to the shooting range so he could learn how to handle these guns.

It's called legislation and law enforcement. You can always shoot to be the next David Koresh. This attitude worked out well for him. No problem.

Many barrels for the fish to swim in.

Wouldn't a gun nut have guns of their own? Dude was 20 and had to take mommy's guns.

Hardly a gun nut.

There's this thing, I doubt you've heard of it since "the majority" hasn't either, but it's called the constitution. It guarantees my God-given rights to bear arms.

Sorry you don't like it but that's just the way it is. What other rights do you have a problem with?

There's this thing called regulations which your right is subject to. Just as any other right. Doesn't seem like you've heard of it but there is a sane majority in this country that will do what can be done to make sure that you will. Only gun nuts believe that the 2nd Amendment trumps all else. It doesn't. It's not absolute. Never has been, never will be. Better get used to it.

Wouldn't a gun nut have guns of their own? Dude was 20 and had to take mommy's guns.

Hardly a gun nut.

Dude was 20 and lived with his mommy. It's the perfect start for a gun nut.
