So how is that ban on murdering people working out for you?Or the ban on guns at school?Or the host of other laws broken by the perps?

All those bans and laws that were broken ... How many more do people want added to only be broken ...

So, once again bumppo, those laws are not effective enough. Laws banning sale and distribution of guns might add enough more safety to be worth considering! It seems to work in many other countries.

I don't want you or any other private citizen to have the freedom to have your own nukes. I do believe you should have the freedom to have your own hammer. Somewhere in between we need to decide based on the use of the weapon and the benefits and risks to society where we draw the line on freedom to own and possess such 'tools'! Stop making this into some absolutist, black and white issue. Learn how to do nuance. That is where we are in real life!

If you've read my posts you will recognize that I do not see it in an absolutist manner.

Do you not feel safe in the US? Are you under constant threat of getting shot?

When you crunch the numbers, we're FOUR TIMES MORE LIKELY to be killed than people in the developed part of Europe. That sounds horrible. But, when you look at the real numbers - the murder rates per 100,000 people - the risk there, and here, is so minute the average person can go their whole life without being witness to violence.

I love how all the folks on VJ talk about "making it safer" for Americans. Come on. Most of you have been to at least one other country and I'm pretty sure you're just as safe here as you are there.

We see the media and our dumba$$ politicians talking about the "problem" of violence, specifically gun violence, that plagues our country. What violence? The average American has never been party to a violent crime nor will they ever be. Especially a shooting.

Simply put, there is no problem.

There's no problem until you get a call from your child's elementary school advising you of the lock-down the school is under because some gun nut thinks it's warranted to be toting his motherfcuking piece in close vicinity of the school. That's where the fun ends when it's your child in a lock down drill just because some motherfcuking gun nut lacks any sense of decency and respect. ** them all I say.

If you don't want that call, don't have kids.

That call is the price you pay for liberty. Don't like it? Move to North Korea!

You know, that's not funny. This shite actually happened today. And to hear my daughter talk about that experience actually made me cringe. And it made me mad. Like I wasn't mad already. It's ridiculous that children have to grow up that way. It's insane, in fact. Not sure how much longer I can have my child and family exposed to this utter insanity.

I have no idea why schools overreact like that either. Stupid.

Because people flip out over inanimate metal objects. A guy is walking with a gun. Whooptidy doo.

Yet society freaks out. Stupid.

Just think, if everyone was armed, this type of stupidity wouldn't happen!

My right to own a firearm interferes with no one. I only want the second amendment followed, not to trump any other amendment or law with the constitution.

So let's follow it. Including that part where it says 'well regulated'!! And with that constitutional endorsement of regulation we can include prohibitions on semi-auto fire weapons or at least their registration and strict controls on who may or may not own them!

I have no idea why people think that carrying a gun around is more important than our children being able to learn in school without being terrified. That is what's stupid.

Well regulated has nothing to do with regulations.

Quite the opposite, actually. It means being able to use your arms very well.

I bet the children wouldn't even have noticed if the teachers wouldn't have said anything.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing the first people the school called was men with more guns. Am I right?

Why is it that one man walking around with a gun is scary but several men responding with guns is not?

Are we still insinuating it's about the guns?

:wow: Tell that to the parents of the Sandy Hook victims!

Until Adam Lanza opened fire he was also just some guy walking with a gun!

BTW if you'd leave the US over this I do think you forfeit the right to be taken seriously in gun threads going forward.

I don't know. It's just hard when you hear your six year old daughter talk about that terrifying experience she went through today. She asks questions - why does that happen, dad? Why did we have to turn off the lights and hide in the corner pressed against the wall, dad? What happened that we couldn't have a regular school day today, dad? It's just incomprehensible to me that people think that this is normal. It isn't. It's sick. If the worship of objects of death and destruction drowns out the needs of our children to grow up in an environment free of fear, then we live in a failed nation. This is not sustainable.
