Face it ...mr dog is clueless regarding his comment

Okay, you can have one if you has been around and registered since 1986. You guys are then admitting that the so called assault weapons ban did not actually ban any assault weapons. You guys are also admitting that high capacity magazines have never been banned. And you are finally admitting that no banning of any weapons is being pursued on the federal level and that all your "Obama is coming for my guns" hysteria is absolutely ridiculous.

Glad we got to sort this out after all.

Would gun control have prevented this? I don't know. Does the total lack of gun control prevent this? Absolutely not.

With the number guns. Yes they will.

The campus already has gun control ... It's a gun free zone ... Illegal to bring a gun on campus ..

How did that gun control work out on this one?

True, of course the term itself is meaningless You guys are also admitting that high capacity magazines have never been banned.~Kind of True And you are finally admitting that no banning of any weapons is being pursued on the federal level and that all your "Obama is coming for my guns" hysteria is absolutely ridiculous. Not Obama, but Feinstein

Glad we got to sort this out after all.

Nope. The Feistein bill doesn't take a single gun away. It stops the further proliferation of certain firearms and certain high capacity magazines. I don't read where it says that nobody can have any of that it just says that these items can no longer be sold, transferred, manufactured or imported. That's not really any different from what happened to automatic firearms decades ago which you yourself say are not banned today. So how does the Feinstein proposal amount to a ban but the Hughes Amendment does not?

Thanks for coming clean on that one ...

So how many of those legally owned, real (as opposed to media hype types) assault weapons (full auto types) have been used in crimes?

You guys ????Heck with the poor usage of terminology how does any message get across? Guess it's gotta be delivered and passed ala NY ... Where even the cops gotta hand in their high cap mags ..

So I read the summary of the Feinstein proposal. Where's the confiscation clause?

Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

120 specifically-named firearms;

Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and

Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.

Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:

Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;

Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and

Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.

Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:

Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;

Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and

Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

Background check of owner and any transferee;

Type and serial number of the firearm;

Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and

Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.

Sandy Hook - legally owned semi-automatic and legally owned high capacity mags. Don't give me this BS that the shooter stole these from his mother - these were out for him to grab. The legal owner failed her responsibilities and has a significant share of the guilt in the death of these 20 children and their 6 teachers.

Aurora, CO. The weapons and ammo used to kill 13 and injure 59 were purchased legally by James Holmes.

The list goes on. You know that, of course, but don't want to admit it. I get it. To some, gun fetishes are much more important than the life of others. I'm just not part of that crowd. I care more about life than guns.

There is a ban on transfers. As far as I am aware the 86 law allowed transfers and sales. If you can't transfer a firearm upon death where does it go?

You can be buried with it. Seems fitting seeing how precious those guns are to some.

So how is that ban on murdering people working out for you?Or the ban on guns at school?Or the host of other laws broken by the perps?

All those bans and laws that were broken ... How many more do people want added to only be broken ...

Not that lame argument again. By that logic, we should make gun acquisition for felons legal, too. I mean since we already know that they're not going to obey laws, why make laws prohibiting them to acquire and own guns? Just more laws they're gonna break. Why bother, right?

Underage drunk driving should be legalized, too. If they drink while underage, obviously, they're not obeying the law so why put up more that they're going to break? Why bother, right?

Come to think of it, murder should not longer be illegal for rapists. If they rape, they demonstrate that they don't respect the law anyways so why bother having laws that make it illegal for them to snuff their victim out? And for rapists that first break and enter, the rape should get a pass, too. Since they've already broken the law and all.

So laws saying its illegal to murder people are lame ... Wow

How about rigorously enforcing those laws on the books instead of bargaining them away? Some of the laws aren't sexy and enforcing wont make the 11:00 news ...yet can make an impact

No, that's not what I said. You are saying that we can't do anything by passing legislation since these perps break the law anyway. I just listed a few examples to demonstrate just how ridiculous that line of argument really is.

There are already laws on the books. How many more are needed to continue saying the same thing?Where is the enforcement for infractions against today's laws?

but if someone wanted one, they could make their own.

Don't give me this BS that the shooter stole these from his mother - these were out for him to grab.

some news reports i've seen indicate they were secured - not out for him to grab.

Yes, if I want to drive at autobahn speeds, I can break the speed limit. It works. I've tried it. So now what? Get rid of speed limits seeing that I can easily get passed them?

Secured is a relative term, I suppose. Seeing that he got his hands on them, I'd say if they were indeed "secured", then they were rather inadequately secured.
