We are getting information rounded up to file for my wife's ROC at the end of this month. We finally got our daughters birth certificate in the mail on friday, but it has the wrong address listed for the place of residence. I called the kansas vital statistics office to see about getting it changed and was informed to live as it is or it would take up to 4 to 5 months to have it changed and it would have an amended put on top that might bring up questions in getting a us passport for her. I was wondering if we will get an rfe because of the wrong address on it. I was thinking about getting an affidavit signed from the person living at the wrong address saying that we have never lived their or trying to explain in the cover letter. Was wondering if anyone had the same issue and what they did or if anyone else has an other idea's.

My hubby had to get his divorce certificate amended (by KS) and it only took a few weeks. They’d had his ex’s Maiden Name spelled wrong. I don’t see why it would take months to get an amended Birth Certificate.

I would try calling back because this seems pretty bogus to me.

Called them back and they said they are behind in issuing birth certificates and amended birth certificates. Which must be true cause our daughter was born in august 2012 and we are just now getting the birth certificate.

Got email from the head supervisor at the government agency that handles the birth certificates. Advising us not to change the address on it cause it would have the words Amended written on the top. They said it would cause lots of problems for my daughter later on in life cause she would always have to show proof why it was amended. I'll include the email from them, bills from the hospital during her birth that has the correct address, and affidavit from the person living at the wrong address saying we have never lived their. I think that should be good enough for proof i hope lol.

I would send a copy as is, you can put a note in your cover letter indicating their mistake and you never lived there, along with their email. Sometimes USCIS can actually figure out stuff like this, be positive, ROC is usually no big deal, and it looks like a 10 month wait anyway.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

If I were in your shoes, I am not gonna explain anything, and it's not a big deal, most likely nobody will notice that. However, if you write any explanation they gonna notice it, and they could got suspicious. I always believe anybody should not explain anything if he/she was not asked to do so.
