There's probably a reason that it isn't there already, but I think it would be helpful if it said 'petitioner' or 'beneficiary' or some other status identifier under the avatar.

Or at least in the profile.

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten confused by questions like 'am I supposed to submit my BC with the I-130' etc etc.

Idk... it just seems like a good idea.

That's why I put it in my sig so people would stop treating me like the beneficiary lol

That's a great idea. good.gif I'm all for this.

One member here that was so arrogant pointing out that I'm just a mere beneficiary - being petitioned by my US citizen children. rofl.gif

It could help people answer questions better if they take the time to look that is.

I have seen people talk to you like a beneficiary when it clearly says - in red font, no less - I am the USC.

It would also help me feel better when I look at a post and it is barely readable because someone isn't in America.

It is confusing as I've noticed with the Scandis, Canadians, and Brits, that often it is the non-USC on here.

When I see posts I can't even remotely read, I have to remind myself that they probably don't speak english.

Btw, some people turn the sigs off... They can be very large. So just because it says "I am the USC" in your sig, doesn't mean they see it. Sigs also don't show up on cellphones.

The only problem that has been raised in the past about this idea (and it has been floated several times before) is that some couples post under the same account, some members have not filed yet (so are neither beneficiary nor petitioner), some filers are past the petition stage (i.e. ROC, citizenship), and some are neither petitioner nor beneficiary at all.

At best, it should be an optional field.

Petitioner/Beneficiary sounded better than USC/Foreigner

I think optional is good. Of course, everything is optional lol.

I defeinitely think it would be helpful when answering questions. I know I myself have had to ask that question numerous times before I responded to a post with an answer about something.

Si, man, to all of this. I like the way in which one shared account is handled: the beneficiary starts off with (or sometimes finishes with) "It's Victor in Russia." Four courteous words that leave no doubt, no man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yep -- those two are a perfect example of how to do it right! star_smile.gif

I'm one of those people. Some of them are ridiculously large and results in me only getting one post on the screen at a time. That's why mine is short, and all the big details are in the "About Me" section of my profile.

ya, i turn off sigs and graphics.

Folk on a cell phone can't see most of what's in the member block either.

it's a great idea, to delineate, but where to put it ?

That'd be best, IMO - to stick it in the timeline, holding the data point there.
