Hi!

I am not sure if this is the right category to post this under, but I couldn't really find another one. I am a non-US citizen studying in the States and I am getting married to an American citizen in a month and we were trying to get the papers ready for filing early. I just had a quick question. I was looking at the "How to File an I-130 for a Spouse Inside the US" guide, and I couldn't really tell if after I prepare the two packages for the I-130 and the I-485 if they are all filed together in one package or separately. I know they get sent out at the same time, but do I put them all in the same folder? And is the Michigan lockbox for everyone or does it matter where you live?

Also, I don't live with my fiance now, and I wont even after we are married for a couple of months until I am done with school. Should I file with my current address and then request a change of address later when I move? or just let the papers go through?

I wanted to thank you guys a lot for this forum, I have been looking all over the internet for somewhere that had decent information about filing the forms, and this was the only one I found that didn't want to suck in all our money! We still are hesitant about filing in the papers ourselves without hiring a lawyer, since the one we talked to wanted 2,000 dollars just to file the papers.

Responding just to the above--

It seems kind of daunting but between the government website and VJ there is plenty of information, all you need is to be organized and thorough. If you run into a question, someone else has probably asked it here, but don't be afraid to ask again if you don't find the answer. :)

Best wishes to you and yours

I did file i30 and i485 together and put all the forms in one folder. I just put a cover letter on top listing all the contents in the folder. I wanted to copy paste some links here that will help you but im on my phone. You may type"concurrent filing" in the search box and u will see additional guidelines aside from the info on the "guidelines" tab on this site. There are also sample forms in one of the menu tabs.

To know where youre supposed to send your application, go to page 5 of i30 instructions.you can download it from uscis website. With regard to address change, i think just go ahead with your application and change your address later.
