Oh....the cat carrier.....Sophie HATES and FEARS it. If I so much as touched it she was gone. Later I will post some pictures of how my older daughter and I drove the cats to California to live with my younger daughter, their first kitty mommy. I was foster kitty mommy while my daughter lived in Australia for 7 years. When she came back she got married and flew to California. Flying 3 cats and an old dog was not an option, so we made a road trip....Chicago area to northern California. And we included all her stuff

what is sophie's breed

meow meow is a persian kitty

i dont know what her color is called exactly, in her passport it says simply grey

but she has orange all over - on her nose and chin light orange and on her paws and back as well

i am also going to take my kitty to the states, so we will definitely be flying, and ive heard they dont allow persian cats in cargo because of their nose and trouble breathing

but i have 2 main concerns : we are a bit heavy, .. she is about 5 kg without carrier and with carrier a bit more, depending on carrier

not sure if all aircompanies will allow her to travel in cabin

also i am worried if meow meow will manage to stay calm in the carrier... she really really really hates it there

do u guys have any tips on how to make our journey a bit better... i am from bulgaria, so far i am looking at flights that are about 16-20 hours total, 10 or 12 h trans atlantic flight, 2 flights that are 1-2 hours each and 1-2-3 hours lay overs in between

i hope she will survive it without it causing permanent stress

Sophie is just a domestic longhair mix. Her nose is long. Dilute tortie is just the coloring. Your kitty is a Persian with dilute tortie coloring. As for flying with pets, I have never done it. I found a website that has lots of info. It is unsettling to see reports of pet deaths and injuries. They have many tips on the website, as well as airline info. http://www.petflight.com/

We rescued Fluffy from the back yard when she was about 6 months old. I saw her with her mum and we started feeding them and playing with Fluffy and brought her in last October. She is a domestic long hair but that's all we know about her breed. The vet says she's in good health. We chose no to declaw her. After watching the "Puss in Boots" movie with Kitty Softpaws, I just couldn't. I don't know how to insert a photo

My daughters and I never declawed them either. To insert a picture it needs to be on a website somewhere, like an online photo album, then you need to copy the link to it, and paste that into the "insert image" link. Took me awhile to figure it out.

Photo album finally! Now I hope I can link it properly. This is our road trip with the pets. I decided it would be safer to build little travel homes for each cat, where they would live for the duration of the trip. I realize this is not anything anyone could do for air travel, but if by some chance you move and are driving, maybe this could give you some ideas. Much of the information I was reading about traveling with cats is they can become frightened and hide where you can't reach them, like under the bed, or bolt out the door. Companies in the business of moving pets never let cats out of the carrier. They transport them in large carriers with a litterbox inside. So I got an idea...Road Trip with Pets Mouse over pictures to read captions.

How could I have possibly missed this thread????? I am an unabashed cat lover and I am currently "owned" by three cats, two Russian Blues named Chica and Chico (both female) who are 7 years old and an 18 year old male grey cat named Frankie who was left to me when my brother-in-law died of cancer two years ago. They are spoiled, unique and quirky--Chica gallops and walks like a horse, Chico is afraid of anything including her tail and Frankie cannot hear and can barely see but will let you know when he is not happy, especially when he is cold. I am absolutely crazy about these "kids" and since they are all the same color some people assume I only have one cat--it cracks me up. I will post pictures soon.

Our foster cat finally had her kittens! We were starting to get worried, and of course she chooses the night of an ice storm to go into labor. I provided three different nesting boxes, but she chooses the cat carrier also left in the bathroom with her to have her babies in... anyways, looks like three black kittens (very common for Siamese to have black kittens), I shall try and post photos later or tomorrow.

Well, turns out there were five kittens overall! No wonder she was so huge! All are black with white booties and some white markings.
