Moved from Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America to Tourist Visas forum.

**Organizer hat off**

If you choose to write an invitation letter, the contents of said letter will make no difference. Your mom will have to qualify for a tourist visa on her own merits (i.e. have strong ties to her home country).

People apply on their own merits. Writing such a letter may prove to be the very reason she is denied if they feel she will stay to care for the baby.

She needs to understand the strongest ties rule to have any chance.

She needs to provide ties to her home country. Basically she needs to prove that she has reasons to return home after her designated stay.

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Hi! They were right about the ties she needs to show at the interview, however, you can also write the letter stating that you will be the one to spend for her entire trip. It's what my friend did. She wrote a letter of invitation stating that she will spend for everything. No harm in trying anyway. Good luck!

Philippines is a high fraud country. Strong ties are hard to prove. You mother has to show it is more advantageous for her to return to the Philippines, than remain in the US beyond the term of her visa. Given the high rate of overstays for both tourist visas and work visas from the Philippines, that is a hard nut to crack, but sometimes you get lucky. Strong ties include things like owning property or a business. The more desperate the need to come to the US, the less likely you will be approved.

You can ask her to try to apply for a tourist visa. The US embassy is usually lenient to parents and relatives of US residents especially those who are of senior citizen age. Just show proof that she can afford it or provide letter that you will pay for her expenses. Good luck!
