I wouldn't worry - Bush won't be impeached. If he was at the start of his term maybe - but as the process would likely take longer than he has left in office, I can't see there being any point in doing it.

In fact, haven't some Dems already said something to that effect?

Still I wouldn't blame this election defeat on the terrorists - if anyone's to blame its Bush and his administration who have dragged down the Republican party.

I think you're drastically overexaggerating the influence of the terrorists. They might have wanted the GOP to lose, but Iraq has been ###### for a long, long time.

Yeah, Rummy and W tackled them real well acting as their top recruiters. Remember the unanimous assessment of the 16 US intelligence agencies? Bush and Rummy failed miserably in their "war on terror" as well as their misguided adventure in Iraq. They failed. The American people know it and have made it heard that they know it. But you can keep exhibiting your ignorance all over the place. It's a free country. And with Bush contained, we may just stand a chance to keep it that way.

I personally couldn't be happier. Rumsfeld is gone, Gates is in, and all the congressional committees will get new leaders, ones in favor of "phased withdrawal"!!!

Let's get our boys out of Iraq, let's tax the rich (and the dead), and lets get back to making this country strong, instead of wasting all our money overseas.

As a lifelong Republican, I have never been so embarrassed to see the number of defeats. It goes to show that without a doubt, Bush is a complete idiot, and a liability to the GOP, along with the other idiot, Rumsfeld. The good news is… Rumsfeld is gone, and the Senior Military Staff couldn’t be happier, and maybe now we can wash our hands of the mess in Iraq.

It's good that Rambofeld got the boot, but we'll have to see what sort of direction change is planned for Iraq in the next few months.

The quagmire is not caused by a single person, but by the ###### up policy of an arrogant administration that refused to listen to its European partners. They were warned before the first shot was fired that the invasion could lead to a general destabilization of the entire Middle East but the Bushoviks went in there anyway in John-Wayne (or rather General Custer) style without the minutest concept of what to do with a conquered country.
