Hey Bx, have you considered driving to Newark to pick her up? That way she can fly to HK, then right to Newark. That's a great POE. You can then shoot right back down I-95. If I remember correctly from when I was a young Marine, that's not a bad drive...

Hey leatherneck!

You know I was really looking for Korean Air but it seems that I cannot find them listed on Cheapo Air

for a one way ticket

So I say Philippine air to Tokyo then Canadian Air to Toronto to Richmond but know I'm learning

Canada will be her POE not Richmomd! Wow life is complicated! lol

I was really impressed with Korean Air

Yeah I feel you regarding KA, love the service and the layover in Incheon - great airport.

I found a KA flight on Cheapo Air - but POE was DFW, however, it was not cheap.

Bxman,

It seems your desired POE (Richmond) limits your options exponentially, especially with KA. However, I did find this fare/flight (it's quite pricy) that arrives @ Washington Dulles via KA. Are you willing to drive a bit to meet your fiancee, considering Dulles is a little more than 100 miles from Richmond?

Thanks Guy!

I guess I'm beginning to understand why I don't see Korean Air

She'll be departing from Cebu

I know Korean Air leaves from there because I've flown twice (round trip)

and My friend will return on the 30th from Cebu (round trip also)

I think Dallas is going to be her POE

Is it a big deal going through USICS with a K1 visa?

What exactly will she undergo? Just a couple questions right?

American Air to Richmond is about $1000

I really thought I had it nailed with Canadian Air thru Toronto!

Thought my ONLY worry would be WEATHER!

Thanks to Tygrys post I've been enlightened!

Seems Canada is part of the USA!! lol

I wonder if they do that in airports in Mexico???

Air Canada is just fine like any other major airline.

But in this case Richmond will not be her POE.:bonk: She will have to get her luggage and POE in Toronto :bonk: , and I personally don't like this airport...

:help:

POE is not Toronto. POE is the first at the first airport within the U.S.A . Canada may have a few crazy rules about luggage but for sure the yellow DO NOT OPEN envelope is NOT given to ANYONE in Canada.

All passangers destined for the U.S. and their luggage are inspected by CBP at Pearson Toronto airport.

Flights from Toronto to any location within U.S. is treated as a domestic flight.

These are not "crazy rules" and if you don't know, you should refrain from posting.

Maybe you should first travel to U.S. through Toronto, or at least visit CBP page http://cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/ to learn about CBP preclearence offices abroad?

Alternatively, you can go to POE reviews at this site and read what people have to say about POE Toronto?

Really?! You are going to argue about Toronto being a U.S. Point of Entry? Seriously?:blink::wow::help:

The OP is not talking about Canada other than asking about the airlines.

The information is not only bad, its inaccurate and false.

As for having luggage inspected by CBP that does not mean Toronto is a U.S. Point of Entry... its means CBP checked the luggage before the passengers continued their flight to the United States and POE.

As for Toronto... been there.... done that.

Maybe you should take a break from this board and go there one more time to verify?

Pre-Clearance.... is NOT POE. Checking the luggage does NOT make Toronto a U.S. Point Of Entry. I am not wrong.

Passengers will go through customs once they arrive at their first U.S. airport and have their luggage checked.... AGAIN. Those traveling for immigration purposes will THEN give their yellow DO NOT OPEN envelope to an Immigrations officer.... not in Toronto.

There are 329 POE in the United States and Toronto is not on the list.

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/

Pre-clearance: U.S. Customs and Border Protection has offered U.S.-bound travelers preclearance services - allowing DHS to screen travelers for takeoff through the same process a traveler would undergo upon arrival at a U.S. port of entry to better target and prevent threats while streamlining legitimate travel.

Really...?? You are still presisting on calling Toronto a U.S. POE?

So you are advising those traveling for immigration purposes to turn in their yellow DO NOT OPEN envelope to a customs agent in Canada?

I provided a link showing ALL U.S. points of entry and it also includes pre-clearance locations (these are not POE... DHS lists them as pre-clearance). Now you provide me a link from an offical U.S. government website that lists Toronto as a United States point of entry.

Oh.... I just noticed your country...

I noticed your country long time ago... Ohhhh... and what does it have to do with anything? Maybe I need to ask Admin to look at your comment?

I already suggested you go to POE reviews on this site. If you did, you would have noticed that K1s (like everyone else flying from Toronto to anywhere in US) are fully inspected there. Both customs and border control. Yes, they surrender their yellow envelopes there. Period. No matter what you say.

- interesting. U.S. Customs Immigrations officers doing Immgration's processing from within a foreign country. Weird to say the least. Still DHS does not list Toronto as a POE, yet they are treating it as one.

I can see them doing it in Guam as its a territory of the U.S.A.
