Hey,

I was wondring if anybody sent AOS including tax info with I-864 and then found out that the tax return (for us it's 2005 one) needs to be slightly changed. That is the tax return was prepared, sent to USCIS but not to IRS... and not we would like to send new changed return to IRS.

The change is minor (subtracting alimony) and does not affect our eligibility in any way... would USCIS care? do we want to let them know?

thank you,

obender

You should have waited or not sent 2005 in yet. You have until April 15, 2006 before 2005 needs to be considered. How much $$ are you talking? Thousands or a couple hundred?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I would suggest - just take the correct return to your interview and explain the slight difference at that point. Don't worry about it too much. Good Luck

Actually the only number the USCIS cares about is the amount in Line 7. If that hasn't changed, then there's no problem.

thanks guys!

i though about just bringing updated 2005 return to the interview (whenever that gonna happen?!)

line 7 is unchanged. the change which is in adjustments is order of couple of thousands but it's a small persantage of the return.

It's not a big deal.

Submit your FY2005 tax returns ASAP with the IRS. Once submitted, order your FY2005 tax transcripts from the IRS (free). At your interview, USCIS gives more importance to tax transcripts since those are the returns you actually filed.

obender,

Good thought.

But rch was correct - you are supposed to submit to the USCIS what you submitted to the IRS, and you hadn't submitted 2005 to the IRS.
