Roundabouts work, it's just American drivers that mess them up.

The thing is, studies show that you are just as likely to have an accident on a roundabout as at a four-way intersection. The difference is that that accident is 40% less likely to be fatal, as the chances are that an impact will be at an agle, rather than a full broadside shunt.

Of course, those statistics assume that the drivers involved know that you go round roundabouts and not over them.
