  1. 1. Traffic lights

    • The libs can take them. Traffic lights are a violation of my liberty anyway.
    • Roundabouts feel vaguely European. I may have to move to the Mojave desert if it came to that.
    • Traffic lights are part of traditional America and I will defend them to the last drop of blood!

This is a roundabout near home. This is why I hate roundabouts. During rush hour this is a death trap.

I'd be more concerned with all of the buckling on that bridge. Was this pic taken during an earthquake?

Being from the Boston area, I know exactly what you mean. Get stuck on the inside of a roudabout (we call em rotaries) during rush hour, and you could be going round in circles for a bit.

Yes, funny thinking back on it. Thought I was just a clueless Midwesterner because we didn't have those then.

Nobody knows when they can go, which lane they should be in, who they're yielding to. It's a mess.

That is not too hard. If you are driving a big SUV you can go anywhere, at all times, on any lane you wish, and you if you carry a big gun you yield do no one.

 I used to find drivers in New York so aggressive until I got a truck. Even driving through NYC, they all let me merge nicely and are polite. I wonder why that could be.

it was a standard item that was taught in new england ... way back when. heck it was even in the drivers-ed book.

appears todays drivers-ed classes needed to dumbed-down so more would pass ..

I think it has more to do with the fact that the majority of North Americans haven't had to drive through one. Ottawa only got one or two a few years ago and that was my first time ever seeing one.

I think I've seen one since I moved to Wisconsin.

We have a bunch around where I live but very few drivers truly know how to use them.
