What to do (in terms of immigration) when fiancee wants to go home?

Thanks again everyone.

We (I) have tried all approaches to break through. She has resisted every effort. Paper tickets for int'l flights had to be issued and delivered. These 3 days were too much for her, but unavoidable. There is no negotiation on her part.

She flies home and that it that.

Joe.

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out, Joe. If she leaves within the 90 days, that's acceptable legally if heartbreaking romantically. You could drop a note to USCIS if you want, but there's nothing more you need to do.

Joe

If she is returning home, I would leave it at that. If she changes her mind, there is an option to request the consulate to reissue the visa. It does however have to be within the initial 90 day period and there is no guarantees of them doing so even though it is open to them to do so. I can't find the link I'm after right now, but when I do I will post it.

It's very possible that her family ties in her home country are not something she wants to break away

from, for an extended length of time.

It's possible also that there was an expectation of a different reality of life here in USA than what was to be imagined, and now that expectation was shattered.

Let her go back, that is where she will find her inner happiness, it has nothing to do with the US citizen, some people can not adapt and do not want to adapt to the very different culture here.

You can alway try to learn the Ukraine language and culture and hope there is a chance to fit in there. A long shot, to be sure. But love works in mysterious ways, at times, I suppose.

So, my fiancee wants to go home. Cannot envision a successful transition and has demanded to return home. :crying:

Yes, I am heart broken, but no need to try and push this rope any further.

Question:

Other than buying a return trip ticket, is there any immigration associated steps to take.

She is K-1, Ukraine, still within 90 days.

Thanks for the condolences.... (F)(F)(F):dead:

Found out answer.

Went to local airport with connection thru Dulles (IAD). The ticket agent (for United) took the i-94 from the passport and stapled it to the IAD - VIE boarding pass. The ticketing agent in IAD, the one who gives you the little boarding pass stub, will pass the i-94 onto immigration.

I will now "sit in the ashes...."
