Changing Address Online is Confusing

I'm trying to change my address online and I don't really get it.

I'm living in China, and I finally got my Form I-797C/NOA1. I mistakenly originally put my address in China as my mailing address. I want to change it to my parents address in America, but it's a little difficult for a couple parts.

It asks me for an "A" Number. What is that? The only number I see is the Receipt Number on my I-797C.

It then asks for the previous mailing address. The address I'm changing from is in China, but it asks me what state I was previously in. It won't let me choose China. Plus, my address in China is 6 digits but it will only let me type in 5.

Thank you!

Mitch

I didn't put in anything for the A number or maybe I put all 000000000. Be sure you are using Internet explorer. I think I ended up not putting the Danish address and just putting a US one as the one I was changing from.

An "A" number is an Alien registration number. This wouldn't apply to a US citizen. Your receipt number is what you will need. There are different methods for changing an address depending on who is changing the address. Are you using the Online Change of Address tool for US citizen? https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa&localeLang=en (scroll to bottom)

If that doesn't allow you to change it, I would contact USCIS.

Thank you for the Internet Explorer suggestion. That's what I tried and everything worked. I also just put the old and new address the same, and that also worked.
