. . .Hello all. . .My Fiancee will be here mid-February and we are wondering what should be our first steps after she arrives & before marriage; also what should our first steps be after marriage ( Green Card, SSN, AOS ( what exactly is that??? ) & Citizenship would be some of our goals ). . .I would like to be able to travel outside of the USA soon after she arrives here, but, understand that might be difficult? So, suggestions & links if you can please. . . Thanks to all!!!

Asa she arrives: make sure she is given (stapled in her passport most of the cases) the I-94 at the Immigration at airport and that her name is correct and the expiration is 90days from her entry.

After that you'll have to apply for Marriage Certificate (when depends how long is valid for and when your wedding is).

It is usually best to apply for SSN after 2wks her arrival, so that she can be found in the system.

After marriage you'll need to request Certified Marriage Certificate (best is prob a couple or 3 copies). AOS stands for Adjustment of Status (Form I-485) which she'll be sending along with other docs (see guides) and the Affidavit of Support (I-864). Strongly recommended to apply for EAD (Employment Authorization) and AP (Advance Parole) as Green Card can take a while... these two are free if sent along with AOS.

And, no, you won't be able to travel outside the USA for a few months, until she gets AP or GC (if AP is not filed along).

Citizenship won't come for another few years, pending approval of AOS.. you'll have first Removal of Condition after 2 years from GC. But if you want to see what you'll need etc, I suggest having a look at the Guides on VJ!
