Hello VJers!

I have a question about my trip to Turkey. We filed for AOS and I received my EAD combo card. I am going to Turkey in the beginning of February. I came to the US on J-1 visas and as I was leaving US, during check-in they always took my I-94. But now it is a different case. Should I keep my I-94 before I go to the airport or should I leave it on my passport so they can take it during check-in.

Also I am kind of nervous travelling with my EAD combo card. I am not worried about being admitted back in here however more worried about them letting me leave in Turkey :) What do you guys think? Will it be a mini chaos in Turkish customs?

Thank you for the replies in advance.

Make a copy of your I-94 and have it with you when you go to the airport - they are supposed to take it from you when you leave the country, but make sure you have a clear copy for your own records of the front and back.

Airline personnel at the airport in Turkey might not be familiar with the combo card, even though it has been around for a good year now - so my advice is to reserve some extra time for the airport in Turkey when you're about to head back. I returned to the US in July of 2011 with the EAD/AP card, and the airline personnel in Finland weren't sure what to do with it when I first presented it. The person looking at my docs just had to call her superviser who came to confirm that it is a valid document and pulled out the USCIS notice/press release about the new combo cards - she was even kind enough to print me a copy of that, in case I had any issues during my layovers, which I didn't.
