okay, We got 2 service requests answered one was received last December 22,2012 saying:

The status of this service request is:

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 2 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

And to our surprise we got another one last Jan 22, 2012and the 2 mos in not up yet saying:

Dear Don;

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

For future status inquiries of a petition or application filed at this Center you may want to utilize our National Customer Service Center by calling 1-800-375-5283. If you would like to obtain forms, filing instructions, case status or schedule an appointment with your local office, please visit our website at www.uscis.gov.

So I dont understand USCIS if they are giving us excuses to why its taking them too Long to process my papers and I know damn for sure they did not do anything on my papers as the status update says APRIL 25,2012 is their last update on my case.. I appreciate any opinions..

AP is Additional Processing. You can have it before or after approval. Ours was before. Your service request letter said they need more time for additional review. Same thing.

This could mean absolutely nothing. Just that it is taking extra to adjudicate your case.

If you have any immigration issues it could mean you are getting ready for an I-130 interview.

so you mean you got the same service request response as mine?

Yes, I did. In fact I happened to find out by accident that they generated the letter within a few hours of my service request.

Their "case status research" appears to consist of looking in the computer, seeing the number, and saying, "Yeah, it's still processing." The 6-month stalling tactic is a way of making you go away and not file service requests for 6 months. I looked online for others who got the same request and some were approved within days after receiving it and some didn't hear anything for a long time but were eventually approved; some got RFEs, some needed other stuff... in other words, the notice means nothing more than "still in process" and you can't find out what's really going on (if anything) unless you schedule an InfoPass. A lawyer I spoke to said the notice is meaningless and they'd tell us if they needed anything. So don't panic and think you're really going to be delayed 6 months.

He also said "actively processing" and "additional review" are NOT the same thing as "AP" or "Administrative Processing".

Yes the 6 months stalling tactics will keep you off from doing anything...Very true...

It's been our 16months of waiting...Called UCIS 7months after the NOA1 they said to wait for another 6months because it is still in review..Between that, hubby requested an Infopass..contacted Congressman..Senator...and Ombudsman, still no to avail..Just now, hubby called the USCIS again, spoke to a Mean Tier 2 which hanged up on hubby and she said based on their record, the 6th month will be on March 14th...It's funny that they keep track when was our last call but can not give us concrete answers about the application hang ups...

Unfortunately sis hubby did not got her name. She's a black (not being racist)..Hubby did not asked for a Tier 2 but this guy who answered his call and heard his sentiments asked hubby if he would like to talk to a Tier 2. When this black girl answered (not very informative), then hanged up after hubby asked where can he possibly get a concrete answer about the delay.

Hubby called back sis and a woman named Tiffany answered and she was more helpful than Tier 2 so my husband asked if he can talk someone to let them know how helpful she is..Tiffany transferred him to another and i heard hubby saying that Tiffany should be the Tier 2 because she is more helpful and have a listening heart..
