This is a great political ploy if you can pull it off. Just get people to believe that your personal preference or lifestyle choice is genetically predisposed (I can't help it, I was born this way!), then make a comparison to racial issues. Some people will buy into that.

Ok, then let's pretend that homosexuality is a choice. How does that change anything? Discrimination is ok if someone has made a choice, but not ok if they were born that way? How about religious discrimination then? Religion is a choice. Therefore religious discrimination is ok? I'm not following.

Society does not, and should not, be expected to support or condone every choice of lifestyle (or sexual preference).

You aren't following because you don't understand the difference between discrimination and illegal discrimination.

I do understand the difference. How do you reason that religious discrimination should be illegal, but discrimination based on sexual preference should not? Hmmm, maybe because *you* happen to have chosen a religion and wouldn't want to be discriminated against because of it? Religious discrimination wasn't always illegal, but you already missed that point that many others have tried to make you aware of.

It actually is illegal to discriminate someone because of sexual orientation. It is a violation of human rights to discriminate because of ... race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, status with regard to public assistance, disability or age.

So are you saying Gay people have sex with the opposite sex but that doesn't make them heterosexual? Since when? That is a new definition for me.

I am saying that sexuality is not as simple as black and white. Not every male/male swan couple mate with females.

Look homosexuals are born out of heterosexual couple. As long as hetereosexual couples are reproducing, there will always be homosexuals. The only way you wipe out your species is when 100% of the offspring is homosexual. I think nature is smarter than that.

Or it's learned.

When did you LEARN to be heterosexual? Are heterosexual parents teaching their children to be homosexuals? How does homosexuality exist in nature if it is learned? Are animals learning this behavior? From where? Ask the gay community about sexual orientation. The most common answer willbe they are born they way. I guess they would know best about their own orientations.

Of course they say they were born that way. They want people to accept their lifestyle because it's they way they are, not the way they choose to live. That way they can spin this as a equal rights issue.

Oh i see its one big conspiracy that all the gay pepople in the world got together to secretly pledge never to admit their sexuality is a choice. Do you think they pinky sweared and everything?

Who in their right mind would CHOOSE to be gay? They are beaten, killed, ridiculed, ostrasized......why the #$%& would anyone CHOOSE that?

How come most gay people I know knew when they were prepubescent or just starting puberty that they were gay? Did they CHOOSE at 10 yrs old to be gay? I think not.

Ah and to whomever wants to marry his dog and his sister. Go for it.

ummm...I'd have a problem with him marrying the dog....dog can't give consent. :P

what if your dog pinky swears?

these comparisons of people marrying dogs and marrying relatives to gay marriage are incredibly ludicrous -- gay couples live like married people anyway (just don't have legal standing). What effect does this have on anyone's lives? Not mine......

Of course it is but they always go there first.....marrying a sister or an animal or polygamy.

well...maybe if the dog hired an attorney and the court recognized his legal ability to make choices for himself...then that would okay...like underage empaniciation?

In ancient Egypt it was common to marry close relatives- brothers and sisters, uncles and nieces etc. Look what happened to them- nothing but a lots of ancient pyramids and dusty mummies left. :P Isn't this what some of Americans are thinking? Gay marriage leads to the descruction of civillization. :o

discrimination based on sexual preference is illegal in my state

But gary thinks it shouldn't be because some choices are ok for society to accept and others are not?

That is correct. Do you really want society to accept all lifestyle choices?

The ones that aren't harming anyone, yes.
