In nature, are their any other animals besides humans that are gay?

Actually there are. For example Swans are known to mate for life. There same sex swan couples who stay together for life.

Since animals do not have the ability to "choose: I would think this suggest sexual orientation is physiological/biological. For other those who believe homosexuality is a choice, I'm just curious when did you "choose" to be heterosexual?

I agree-they are not effected by morality, sooo,

Scientifically, if you are born gay, is it some sort of mutation of a cell? because scientifically, for the species to continue, this would be bad and cause this mutation to naturally select itself out of the species leading to the extinction of the gay mutation.

We are talking science here--take all the feelings, morality and religion out of it.

And if you were a mother and knew it was a mutation or genetic error, is that something you would decide is like any other genetic disease and choose to terminate the preganacy?

For the swans, it is not uncommon for a female swan to mate with the male/male couple and then leave her eggs for the male/male couple to raise.

If the swans are mating, they are not gay. They may not like to have heterosexual friendships or hang out and choose to just mate, but that would not be the definition of gay. Gay would mean they do not mate with the opposite sex and they do not reproduce.

Excuse me, but I can have sex with a woman- doesn't make me gay. I could have sex with a cucumber, doesn't make me a vegetable either. Sexual orienttion is not always a reflection of who you have sex with.

PS I a know I am going to regret this post because at some point Charles is going to show up :P

So are you saying Gay people have sex with the opposite sex but that doesn't make them heterosexual? Since when? That is a new definition for me.

Scientifically.....they were designed that way. Obviously.

I am saying that sexuality is not as simple as black and white. Not every male/male swan couple mate with females.

Look homosexuals are born out of heterosexual couple. As long as hetereosexual couples are reproducing, there will always be homosexuals. The only way you wipe out your species is when 100% of the offspring is homosexual. I think nature is smarter than that.

When did you LEARN to be heterosexual? Are heterosexual parents teaching their children to be homosexuals? How does homosexuality exist in nature if it is learned? Are animals learning this behavior? From where? Ask the gay community about sexual orientation. The most common answer willbe they are born they way. I guess they would know best about their own orientations.

What do people seriously think will happen if Gay Marriage is legalised?

Just curious...

Seriously, what is the answer?

No answer is forthcoming because we all know what that answer would be. It would require admitting to a degree of prejudice.

Not really. Marriage between a man and a woman is an institution and a tradition that has withstood the test of time, for thousands of years. Most of us think it should remain that way. Personally I don't care what kind of relationship people want to have, that's their business and I accept it. Acceptance of homosexuality as reality is one thing, redefining marriage is another.

You do realize that marriage over the last 1000s of years has been redefined over and over again.

Right. Then you won't mind if I marry my sister, or my dog?

Perfect. You're making erekose's point right there. Prejudice. That's really all it is.

Remember all the other institutions and traditions that withstood the test of time for way too long. Women not having any say in public affairs, colored people being less than human, mixing of the races being sinful and all that rubbish. Look back and realize that people like you were making the argument you put forth at the time that progressive people realized that what has been done for so long, what had become a tradition and an institution that withstood the test of time was, well, wrong and needed to be corrected. ;)

If you take that position you could argue for the legalization of anything.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
