Your point being?

I have refuted the argument that a homosexual uses his predisposition at birth as an 'excuse' for his/her behaviour. I have pointed out that the argument is about is this behaviour 'wrong/evil'?

I have also illustrated that because something is not statistically normal that in and of itself does not make the statistically abnormal wrong/evil.

It is my belief that homosexual behaviour is neither wrong nor evil. Where exactly is the red herring you are talking about?

should be fairly clear what i was talking about when i mentioned genetics as a red herring. but as usual, you blather without saying much.

No, what is clear is that you like to disagree with what I post. Strange way to get your kicks, I might even describe your behaviour as deviant.

oh cool, now i'm not only a child abuser but i'm a deviant too. and all in a discussion about gay behavior!

now that is rich :lol::thumbs:

I am glad you see it that way, maybe now you will try to actually read what people say instead of using childish retorts which do nothing to further the argument.

Now, please put forward your argument as to why homosexual behaviour is wrong, as apposed to merely statistically abnormal.

having to explain it to you means it's a lost cause already.

It's fine to disagree with what I say, it's fine to have a counter argument, but all you do is make insubstantiated accusations. How silly.

The Case for Early Intervention

A Special Report from the Bureau of Justice Statistics on Hate Crimes, otherwise known as Bias Crimes, (published 2001) highlighted some surprising information regarding the nature of hate crimes in the U.S. This report was in direct response to the Hate Crimes Statistics Act of 1990, which required the establishment of a system for tracking and reporting of information regarding the nature and prevalence of hate crimes.

Highlights of the report are as follows:

Younger offenders were responsible for most hate crimes. 31% of violent offenders and 46% of property offenders were under the age of 17. 60% of violent offenders and 71% of property offenders were under the age of 24.

More than 50% of victims of violence were age 24 or under, 33% were under 18, and 8% were 12 or under

Intimidation, simple assault, and aggravated assault were the most commonly reported violent hate crime offenses, accounting for nearly 6 out of 10 bias incidents

61% of hate crime incidents were motivated by race, 14% by religion, 13% by sexual orientation, 11% by ethnicity, and 1% by victim disability

Six in 10 racially biased incidents targeted Blacks, and 3 in 10 targeted Whites.

Early intervention, and teaching children to respect and appreciate differences can go a long way towards preventing these types of crimes:

A Queens Supreme Court Judge sentences teenage killer Charles Bryant to prison for 51 years for beating and stabbing 18 year old Huang Chen - a Chinese food delivery man - to death

A 19-year old is charged with a hate crime after firing a BB gun and striking two Asian members of a high school track team running through the city

Several 13 and 14 year olds spray paint swastikas on Jewish homes in Clifton New Jersey

A youth tells a policeman he shot a gay man to death because he hates homosexuals

so according to you, everyone should introduce their children to the idea of gay relationships at an early age and never voice an opinion about such within earshot of their children..........

Introduce your children to all kinds of things (that are not illegal) and people. Don't preach hate, teach love and acceptance.

It's fine to disagree with what I say, it's fine to have a counter argument, but all you do is make insubstantiated accusations. How silly.

That is the problem with ignorance and intolerance. There is seldom an argument to be had because they have no reason.

according to you. my arguement is it's unnatural and according to the majority of a few states this past tuesday, they agreed. and you call me a deviant while defending this topic? how ironic.

Introduce your children to all kinds of things (that are not illegal) and people. Don't preach hate, teach love and acceptance.

according to you one must do that. many parents disagree with you, as do i. let the kids remain kids, they'll have enough time to deal with this sort of thing later on.

ah yes, anyone who disagrees with your pov is ignorant and intolerant. the irony of that!

I will not apologize. It is child abuse to me as much as being gay is the same as murder to some who posted. Assassinating somebody's character because they chose to love someone of the same sex is reprehensible IMO.

So according to you, these regular posters here:

charlesandnessa

stina&suj

mdyoung

Carol&Marc

garya505

VipulandJamie

..and possibly me...cos I'm on the fence..

...along with the majority of voters in CO ID SC SD TN VA WI, should they have children & instill their beliefs in them, are child abusers? Is that really what you're saying here or have you just spoken out of anger?

BTW, to the above-mentioned posters, I have included your names because I have read this whole thread and inferred from your posts that you disagree with gay 'marriage' in one way or another. If I have gotten this wrong, then I apologise!

As I have said, it may be statistically abnormal, but what do you mean by 'it's unnatural'?

You may not wish to practice homosexual behaviour, and that's fine. You may not like the idea, that's also fine and you are as you have pointed out, not alone in your view. However, not being the only person to think in a particular way doesn't make your view automatically right.

I understand people often think it's wrong because there are religious teachings that say so. If this is your postition, I respect your right to believe that. What I think is unacceptable is to push that view onto people who don't share it.

If there was something inherently 'evil' about homosexuality, if it damaged/threatened/hurt someone who practiced it, or worse still, other people, then I would not believe that it was acceptable.

However, as yet all I have heard is that it's not 'normal'. That is not a good enough reason to go around condemning a homosexuals sexual preferences.
