Hi everyone! I am filing my K1 application and have been reading a lot about the Guangzhou consulate is unforgiving if the fiancée doesn't speak English during the interview. Does this still holds true? We speak mandarin when we talk to each other and writes in English. She just can't speak English .

I just need to know if I need to get my fiancé to start taking English lessons.... any advice will help.

She will be asked which language she prefers to conduct the interview in. I recommend using the language she speaks and understands best so she does not give a bad answer due to misunderstanding the questions or using the wrong words to answer the IO. My wife used mandarin with no problems back in 2010. Good Luck.

where, exactly, were you reading this? please to share? urls are best, tia !

actually, covering HOW you two communicate is best addressed inside of an Evolution of Relationship letter, a paragraph about it, as I think, being from Malaysia, you might be a native Mandarin Speaker.

Submit that in on interview day.

This was a sh|tstorm from Roth in 2009. Take his words as anecdotal evidence. Remember, he's an attorney .

Firstly, she can interview in Mandarin, no problem there.

Secondly, to cover communication topic, write it up in an evolution of relationship letter, get it into the IV Unit on interview day - the very first thing that is given to the ConOff on interview day (not document intake day) .

Here's my example of my EOR - EOR - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=260331&view=findpost&p=3995116

----

Do remember, though - Roth was trying to get a ton of questions answered, and he wasn't able to. He then got some other attornies involved, and fired off a packet to GUZ IV. He wasn't happy with the response, so then what? What's transpired with him in 2012?
