Hello,

I've just been informed that our case has been expedited as my husband is due to deploy soon (found out on my regular update request call to the NVC).

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this or an idea of how quickly this will happen and what the next steps will be?

All I know is that the case will be sent from the NVC to the embassy in London (we have just sent in the I-184 and the DS3032 to the NVC). I've already had my medical in London and have gathered together all the supporting documents required for the DS 230 so I am all ready for the interview but when I phoned the embassy today to get an idea of timings or next steps the person I spoke to didn't really seem to have an idea of the timings or give me an idea of what I will be required to do next for the case.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It will go fast!

Make sure you have everything ready. By the time the embassy had received by file, as you can see, I had an interview within a few weeks and then could have had my visa the day after my interview had they already had my medical results.

Good luck, and hope everything goes ok with your husband's deployment. Which base are you going to be heading to?

:)

Thank you for replying - I saw your timeline a few weeks ago and hoped that you would as we seemed to be a fairly similar position! I've got everything ready so far bar a few missing vaccines which I am having done in California this week as I am now on tricare and they won't charge me £90 for them!

Does the embassy expect you to complete and send them the DS-230 form so that they can process it and then you get called forward for interview? We got expedited from the NVC after the DS3032 and AOS/I-184F stage. Just an insight from your experience would be great as I understand that each embassy/consulate may have different procedures/processing to get to the same outcome.

My husband will be deploying unaccompanied and I'll be remaining behind in California and when he returns we are going straight to Alabama. Where about will you be in Germany? I lived out there a while ago and thought it was a great country.

Good idea re the immunisations!

Are you in the USA now then on holiday? The scenario may be slightly different, but my husband and I got married when I was on a 3 week holiday there and then I went back to where I was living at the time (Australia) but chose to go through the NZ embassy as I wanted to be able to go visit my home and have my interview etc. in Auckland.

The embassy will send you packet 3 and 4 - if you've already done some of that then you won't need to send them all that information again. It might be that there is more information that they require. For example, I had to send ALL of our packet 3 as we got expedited before NVC even touched our file. They won't schedule an interview until they have everything in their hand, but the one good thing of dealing with NZ is they agreed to 'hold' an appointment date. If you're going through London you may be lucky and get someone nice, but I wouldn't guarantee that due to the additional volume going through the embassy!

Go along on the basis that they won't schedule anything until they have all they need for your file. The embassy will send you a letter with what they need. If you have an email address for the IV section then use it to get that information! Have the DS-230 ready to go for sure. Since you're so close to the end, I'd recommend DHLing anything they request so you can track it and know when they have received it so you can enquire about it! Doesn't hurt to be pushy and remind them in every communication about your husband deploying.

Good luck!
