***disclaimer*** I feel like I wrote a post similar to this a while back but I could not find it in my post history...so I'm posting again...

so with the NOA2 date supposedly coming in about 2 weeks or so, and my fiancé (and friends, and co workers, and family...) are trying to figure out how long after NOA2 and the interview could take if we had everything ready to go when she was sent the package. We are going through Madrid, and I believe that they have one of the shortest interview wait times or turnaround times or whatever...

She has her birth certificate with apostle from Colombia (she was born and raised in Colombia until she was 14) but it is about 3-4 months old at this point. I'm not sure how long it is valid, although i would think an official birth certificate shouldn't expire! haha...

She is going to get her police certificate done soon. If their validity is good for more than a few months she'll go ahead and get it this week (I think it takes 2 weeks to obtain it).

So what else can she do to get ready? Can she go ahead and fill out some of the forms, or do they send them in the packet to fill out? If she sends back the packet the next day after receiving it, how long or short of a wait could we be looking at? I'm optimistically telling her late march, but I really have no idea

thanks everyone.

ok thanks...that's a good reference

looking for actual first hand examples from anyone though, especially those going through Spain or those who had everything ready to go and didn't waste time gathering documents after receiving the packet from the consulate

those timeticks in the timelines ARE first hand examples, though.

you can also change the view, see more timeticks in each timeline.

These were the waiting times for us:

I-129F NOA1 : 2012-02-09

I-129F NOA2 : 2012-07-02

NVC Received : 2012-07-17

NVC Left : 2012-07-19

Consulate Received : 2012-07-23

Packet 3 Received : 2012-08-13

Packet 3 Sent : 2012-08-20

Packet 4 Received : 2012-09-04

Interview Date : 2012-09-18

It really depends on every step of the process: the time you need to receive packet 3, gather the required documents, send them to the Embassy, how long it takes them to process your case and assign you a date. In our case, there was some problem with the post office and packet 4, where they tell you the interview date, arrived later that it was supposed to. I needed to contact them by email and ask them about the date before I got it.

I highly recommend you to NOT start gathering the documents you need for the interview until you get NOA2. Once you have it, it'll take anywhere from 2 months up until your interview. You can, however, put the Affidavit + supporting documents together, as they need to be mailed from US to Spain and it takes a bit too.
