Perhaps you might wish to go back and look what I responded to.

Fact: Contrary to the point you were trying to make, the guy had more than one firearm on him. Got it?

i'm not seeing it, but then again i need to get new glasses. one gun, two guns, neither situation makes an "arsenal" though.

if i walked into jcpenney and saw that - i would turn around and walk out. probably a brisk walk.

why? has the media got you that scared of seeing a firearm?

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

i guess i realized i was actually scared of guns in 97 or 98. my roommate and i had a get together of quite a few people one friday night. one of our mutual friends was homeless and a little off base mentally (he had been diagnosed schizophrenic but he was also an alcoholic, and he would go off his medication to binge). he had brought a friend with him that none of us knew. his friend decided to show off his handgun. even though this was happening in another portion of the house and i never saw the gun - i was instantly scared when i heard and wanted him out. there were other people who had seen the gun and took it as a threat. probably more because no one knew the guy than the presence of the gun alone. anyway - he had been asked to leave and he got defensive and so did our mutual friend, the schizophrenic. they both began arguing that they could kill everyone in the house - we were all defenseless. i guess everyone knew that was true and the argument shifted more to, 'please just get the gun out of here and you can come back'. they ended up leaving and going to another party. fairly uneventful.

in hindsight - we were a group of 18-19 year olds, pretty much all at some level of intoxication. if another person would have had a gun, in the 5-10 minutes that things got loud and out of control and scary, there's a pretty good chance that someone would have done something stupid.

also, i was raised to be scared of guns. i've never touched a gun. i've thought maybe i just need to get one, learn how to use it properly. but the truth is, i don't want to. they make me nervous and anxious.

i apologize for the wall of text, but i try not to allow the media to influence my fears.

You big macho gun carrying guys say you have them for self defense. How do you know when the time is right to take out your gun and blow the other guy away if he is openly carrying like this? You think it's cool and normal for a guy to walk into a department store with a rifle strapped to his back and another in his belt. There's nothing to be scared of right?

How do you know this guy is just exercising his "rights" and he's not a nut job that is going on a killing spree? If he suddenly turns the gun on you I doubt you'll have enough time to get your gun out and flip the safety off before your brains are all over the women's underwear!

When the other guy is a black teenager playing the music too loud in his car. That's when the time is right. Just ask Michael Dunn. Sure he felt the same way about the need for guns for self defense as any other gun nut out there. Obviously, they have superior judgement as to when the time is right. Or do they?

Well this guy is white so he's obviously not dangerous.

Oh wait aren't the guys who go on these killing sprees usually white?

I'd be willing to bet that if any of the tough gun lovers on here were suddenly faced with the wrong end of the barrel of a gun they'd cr*p their pants and cry like a little girl.

Remember how scared and defenseless you felt.. That is why I do not want Obama taking my guns

More abject absurdity.. How about when you are a mother of two, huddled in an attic with your kids.

sounds like those individuals didn't need to have access to firearms anyways. i do, however, recommend that you learn how to handle and shoot one.

were you to take a conceal carry class, your questions would be answered.

Obviously not. White guys with firearms are nothing to worry about. Just ask the parents in Newtown that go to the cemetery now to visit their kids' graves.

Really? Michael Dunn had a conceal carry permit which means he took a conceal carry class. He must have slept through that part of the class where they teach when to draw and when not to.

The man was legal according to Utah state law because the weapons were unloaded. Although he did bring extra clips.

Sounds perfectly logical to me wacko.gif

p.s. If a man has to carry this much gear around with him, he's either expecting an ambush in Penneys, or he's not packing much heat in his trousers. whistling.gif

and p.s.s I am neither male, nor gay, nor obsessed with penises. Just an astute observer of the male species.

You may be right. I wouldn't know as well. I am a more astute observer of the female gender! (Don't tell my wife!!)

difference being, i was scared - at that moment. i'm around hunters, cops, security, ccw carriers everyday all day and i'm not scared. i walk out in my backyard and can here gunshots all the time, i'm not scared.

you're scared about what your base is telling you to be scared of but the reality is obama isn't trying to take your guns. you have no reason to feel scared or defenseless.

i completely agree. but we both know that there are plenty of people who have guns who shouldn't. i've been thinking about it, seriously. my husband wants to get one (i don't think he's a real canadian) and i wouldn't want one locked up in my house if i didn't know how to use it properly.
